The figures in red above the distance ring are the infrared index. The infrared index is used when black and white infrared film is used. After achieving focus, shift the current distance setting of the distance ring to the infrared index mark

To adjust the focus, set the focus mode switch to MF and manually rotate the focusing ring

The position of the infrared index is based on a wavelength of 800 nm. The position of of infrared index may differ slightly depending on the infrared film used. We recommend that you take several shots and shift the distance setting to slight different position each time

Infrared film is nor recommended for some EOS cameras. Check your camera instruction manual

When using infrared film be sure to read the film manufacturers instructions
