A Grinding Noise is Heard and/or the Power and Error Lights Flash Alternately
When this occurs, it is likely that the Print Head Lock Lever is not completely lowered.
The Print Head Lock Lever clicks in the middle before it is completely lowered.
=> If there is only one click when the lever is lowered, the lever will contact the carriage, causing the error.

To resolve this issue of the carriage error or noise, first check the Print Head Lock Lever condition.
If the lever is not completely lowered, perform either of the following:
(1) Open the Top Cover. If the lever is accessible;
=> Push the lever downward until it is completely lowered.
Then, power off the printer and power it on again.
(2) Open the Top Cover. If the lever is hidden under the printer housing (the carriage stays under the printer housing);
=> With the Top Cover open, power off the printer and power it on again.
-> The carriage will move and stop. The lever should be accessible.
Push the lever downward until it is completely lowered, then power off the printer and power it on again.
