Resolve Alarm Lamp Errors - PIXMA PRO-100 Printer

Description

Understand and resolve the flashing alarm light errors on your PIXMA PRO-100.

Solution

When a printer error occurs, an error code displays on the printer screen along with flashing lights.

Note the error code number and way the lights flash, then refer to the appropriate table below for help.

  • Table 1: The light flashes repeatedly orange.

  • Table 2: The light flashes alternately between green and orange.

 


Table 1: Alarm lamp flashes orange

When a printer error occurs, the alarm lamp flashes orange as shown below.
The number of flashes indicate the type of error. Count the flashes and take the appropriate action to correct the error.

Two (2)

 

Printer is out of paper.

The disc tray isn't attached.

Paper does not feed.

  • Reload paper in the cassette or the manual feed tray and tap RESUME/CANCEL.

  • When you print on discs (BD/DVD/CD, etc.), use the disc tray supplied with this printer ( (K) is on the upper side). Place a printable disc on the disc tray, attach the disc tray to the printer, then tap RESUME/CANCEL.

1250, 1261, 1270, 1300, 1308

Three (3)

Paper output tray is closed.

Feed slot cover is opened.

Manual feed tray is in the paper jam clearing position.

Cannot print on a printable disc.

Paper jams.

  • If the paper output tray is closed, open it. The printer resumes printing.

  • If the feed slot cover is opened, close the cover slowly and tap RESUME/CANCEL. The printer resumes printing.

  • If the rear tray is open before you load paper on the manual feed tray, close the rear tray slowly, tap RESUME/CANCEL, then load the paper.

  • Before you use a printable disc, remove the paper from the manual feed tray, then tap RESUME/CANCEL.

 If the error remains, paper may be jammed. Remove the jammed paper, reload paper in the printer, and then tap RESUME/CANCEL.

1600, 1660

Four (4)

 

The ink tank isn't installed.

Ink tank isn't installed properly.

Ink may have run out.

  • Install the ink tank.

  • If the lamp on the ink tank isn't lit, the ink tank may not be installed properly. Install an appropriate ink tank.

  • If the lamp on the ink tank is flashing, ink may have run out. Replacing the ink tank is recommended.

 If printing is in progress and you want to continue printing, tap RESUME/CANCEL with the ink tank installed. Then printing can continue. Replacing the ink tank is recommended after the printing. The printer may be damaged if printing is continued under the ink out condition.

1401, 1403, 1405 Five (5) Print head isn't installed.
 

Print head is defective.

  • Install the print head.

  • If the print head is already installed, remove the print head once and then reinstall it.

  • If the error is still not resolved, the print head may be damaged. Service is required.

The inner cover is opened or closed.

  • If the inner cover of the disc tray is open while printing other than disc label printing is in progress, close the inner cover, then tap RESUME/CANCEL.

  • Before you start printing on canvas paper, it is necessary to open the inner cover once. Open the inner cover, then tap RESUME/CANCEL on the printer. When you start printing, close the inner cover, then tap RESUME/CANCEL.

  • If the inner cover is closed when starting disc label printing, open the inner cover, place the disc tray, then tap RESUME/CANCEL (see slide images below).

 When you start printing on paper, close the inner cover, then tap RESUME/CANCEL.

 Don't open or close the inner cover while printing is in progress, as this can damage the printer.

Seven (7)

Ink tank isn't installed in the correct position.

  • If the lamps on the ink tanks flash, some ink tanks are not installed in the correct position.

  • If the lamps on the ink tanks flash, more than one ink tank of the same color may be installed.

  • Replace the ink tank

 Confirm that the ink tanks are installed in the appropriate positions.

Eight (8)

 

Ink absorber is almost full.

  • The ink absorber is almost full.

  • The printer has a built-in ink absorber to hold the ink used during Print Head Cleaning.

  • Tap RESUME/CANCEL to continue printing. Service will soon be required.

The digital camera or digital video camcorder connected isn't compatible with this printer.

The printer has not received a response from the digital camera.

  • Check the device connected to the printer. Printing photos directly is possible only with a PictBridge compliant device.
     
  • A communication time out occurs if an operation takes too long or if it takes too much time to send data. This may cancel printing. In such cases, disconnect and reconnect the USB cable.

  • When printing from a PictBridge compliant device, based on the model or brand of your device, you may have to select a PictBridge compliant print mode on the device before you connect it to the printer. You may also have to turn on your device or select play mode manually after you connect the device to the printer. Perform necessary operations before you connect your device. Please refer to its instruction manual.

  • If the error isn't yet resolved, check if you can print another photograph.

1062, 2500 Eleven (11)

The page size setting doesn't match the size of the paper loaded in the printer.

Automatic print head alignment failed.

When you perform an ordinary print job.

  1. Tap RESUME/CANCEL on the printer to clear the error. Then check the Page Size setting in the Page Setup sheet in the printer driver and load paper that is the same size as the setting and print again.

  2. Set the printer to not detect the width of the paper using the printer driver.

  • To set the printer driver not to detect the width of the paper, open the printer driver setup window (Windows) or the IJ Printer Utility for CUPS drivers (macOS®), and in Custom Settings under the Maintenance sheet (Windows), or in Custom Settings (macOS), clear the Detect paper width check box, and then select OK.
     
  • Select the Detect paper width check box again once printing is complete, and then select OK.

When you perform automatic print head alignment.

  • Print head nozzles are clogged.
    • Tap RESUME/CANCEL to dismiss the error, and print the nozzle check pattern to check the status of the print head.
  • Paper of size other than A4 or Letter is loaded in the rear tray.
    • Tap RESUME/CANCEL to dismiss the error, then load two sheets of A4/Letter-sized plain paper on the rear tray with the printing side (whiter side) facing up.
  • The paper output slot is exposed to strong light.
     
    • Tap RESUME/CANCEL to dismiss the error, and then adjust your operating environment and/or the position of the printer so that the paper output slot isn't exposed directly to strong light.
  • After carrying out the above measures, if the problem continues after aligning the print head again, tap RESUME/CANCEL to dismiss the error, and then perform Manual Print Head Alignment.

When you print the nozzle check pattern or perform a manual print head alignment.

  • Other than A4/Letter-sized paper is loaded.
    • Tap RESUME/CANCEL on the printer to clear the error, and load A4/Letter-sized paper in the rear tray. Then to print again.
       
  • When you print the nozzle check pattern or perform manual print head alignment, be sure to set the paper in the rear tray.

Twelve (12)

Cannot print the contents on CREATIVE PARK PREMIUM.

  • When you print the contents on CREATIVE PARK PREMIUM, confirm the message on the computer screen, make sure that genuine Canon ink tanks are installed properly for all colors, then print again.

Thirteen (13)

The ink level cannot be detected.

  • If the lamp on the ink tank flashes, the remaining ink level can't be correctly detected.

  • Replace the ink tank and close the top cover.

  • Printing with an ink tank that was once empty may damage the printer.

  • If you want to continue printing in this condition, you need to release the function for detecting the remaining ink level. Press and hold the printer's RESUME/CANCEL button for at least 5 seconds, and then release it.

  • With this operation,the printer stops monitoring the remaining ink level for the ink tank(s) in question. Please be advised that Canon shall not be liable for any machine malfunction or damage caused by refilled ink tanks.

 If the function for detecting the remaining ink level is disabled, the ink tank is displayed in gray on the printer status monitor.

1684, 1750

Fourteen (14)

Ink tank cannot be recognized.

  • The ink tank cannot be recognized.

  • Printing cannot be executed because the ink tank may not be installed properly or may not be compatible with this printer.

  • Install the appropriate ink tank.

  • If you want to cancel printing, tap RESUME/CANCEL.

1410, 1411, 1412, 1413, 1414, 1415, 1416, 1417

Fifteen (15)

Ink tank cannot be recognized.

1688

Sixteen (16)

The ink has run out.
  • If the lamp on the ink tank flashes, the ink has run out.

  • Replace the ink tank and close the top cover.

  • Printing under the current condition may damage the printer.

  • If you want to continue to print in this condition, you need to release the function for detecting the remaining ink level. Press and hold the printer's RESUME/CANCEL button for at least 5 seconds, and then release it.

  • With this operation,the printer will stop monitoring the remaining ink level for the ink tank(s) in question. Please be advised that Canon shall not be liable for any malfunction or trouble which may be caused by continuation of printing under the ink out condition.

 If the function for detecting the remaining ink level is disabled, the ink tank is displayed in gray on the printer status monitor.

2002

Nineteen (19)

An unsupported USB hub is connected.
  • If a PictBridge compliant device is connected via a USB hub, remove the hub and connect it directly to the printer.

If the power and alarm lamp flash alternately orange, it may be possible that an error requiring you to contact the service center has occurred.

  • Cancel printing, and turn off the printer. Then clear the jammed paper or protective material that prevent the print head holder from moving, and turn on the printer again.

  • If the error returns, the encoder (timing) strip may need to be cleaned.

 Be careful not to touch the components inside the printer. The printer may not print out properly if you touch it. If the [problem isn't resolved, service is required.
