* Place the following types of documents on the platen glass.

- Wrinkled or creased paper

- Curled paper

- Torn paper

- Paper with holes

- Carbon paper or carbon-backed paper

- Surface treated paper

- Onion skin or thin paper

- Photograph or thick paper

Note:

  • Make sure any glue, ink, correction fluid, or the like is completely dry before loading the document.
  • Remove all staples, paper clips, and the like before feeding the document.

Platen Glass:

Memo:

- Regardless of the document size, set it with the long-side toward you.

- Place the document face down on the platen glass.

- Align the document with the alignment mark < 1 > (shown by the arrow) on the upper left corner of the platen glass.

Note: The machine cannot scan approximately 2 mm from the back edge of the platen glass and 2 mm from the left edge.

  1. Lift the document cover.

  2. Place your document face down on the platen glass. Align the corner of your document with the alignment mark <1> on the upper left corner of the platen glass.



  3. Gently lower the document cover.

Automatic Document Feeder (ADF):

Note:

  • Set a document on the platen glass if you want to scan it at optimum quality.
  • When a document is set in the ADF, 2 mm from the leading edge of the document (the part that is first scanned) will not be scanned.
  1. Remove any documents from the platen glass.

  2. Open the document tray. (See Figure <1>)

  3. Load the document in the ADF with the side you want to copy facing up. (See Figure <1>)
    If it is loaded correctly, you will hear a beeping sound.

    Note: When the Alarm volume in the Volume control is off, it does not sound.

  4. Align the document guides to sides of the document. (See Figure <2>)
