Using the menu on a PowerShot S2 IS and S3 IS

Solution

  • Selecting Menus and Settings

    Menus are used to adjust shooting, replaying, date / time and electronic sound settings. Menus can be displayed by either pressing the <FUNC.> button or the <MENU> button. Watch the LCD monitor while performing the following procedures.

    Selecting Settings by Pressing the <FUNC.> Button (Only in Shooting Mode)

    1. Press the <FUNC.> button.

    • Icons of the selectable settings appear on the left side of the LCD monitor.
    • The current settings icons appear.

    2. Select a menu item using the up or down arrows on the omni selector.

    3. Select setting contents using the left or right arrows on the omni selector.

    NOTE: Some menu items can only be selected after pressing the <SET> button and displaying the next menu. Press the <SET> button again to confirm the setting.

    4. Press the <FUNC.> button.

    • The menu closes.
    • Images can be shot immediately with the selected settings after Step 3 by pressing the shutter button.

    Selecting Settings by Pressing the <MENU> Button

    1. Press the <MENU> button.

    In Shooting mode, the [] menu appears. In Replaying mode, the [] menu appears.

    2. Switch between menu tabs using the left or right arrows on the omni selector.

    • The menu switches as follows:

      [] or [] [ ] [ (My Camera)]

    • Pressing the zoom lever also switches between the menu tabs.

    3. Select a menu item using the up or down arrows on the omni selector.

    4. Select setting contents using the left or right arrows on the omni selector.

    • Press the <SET> button for items followed by an ellipsis (...) then select a setting. Press the <SET> button again to confirm the setting.
    • The items followed by and ellipsis (...) can also be selected by using the left and right arrows on the omni selector as well as the up and down arrows.

    5. Press the <MENU> button.

    • The menu closes.
    • In Shooting mode, the menu can be closed by pressing the shutter button halfway.

  • Some menu items are not available in certain Shooting modes.
