Manual print head alignment instructions

Solution

Follow the steps below to perform a Manual Print Head Alignment (Windows):

Note: After confirming that the cable is connected and the printer is powered on, perform the following.

1. Open the Printers folder.

For Windows 7

  • Click the 'Start' button from the bottom left of the Windows screen, and then click on 'Devices and Printers'.
  • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Printing Preferences' from the menu that appears.

For Windows Vista

  • Click / Select the 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, 'Control Panel', 'Hardware and Sound', and then click on 'Printers'. Note: If you are in 'Classic' view, click 'Printers' directly from the 'Control Panel'.
  • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Preferences' from the menu that appears.

For Windows XP Home Edition

  • Click / Select the 'Start' button from the bottom left of the Windows screen, 'Control Panel,' 'Printers and Other Hardware,' and 'Printers and Faxes.'
  • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Preferences' from the menu that appears.


For Windows XP Professional Edition

  • Click 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, and 'Printers and Faxes.'
  • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Preferences' from the menu that appears.


For Windows 2000

  • Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, and 'Settings,' then 'Printers.'
  • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Properties' from the menu that appears.

2. Right-click the printer icon to open Properties.


3. Click the 'Maintenance' tab and click 'Custom Settings'.



4. Select 'Align heads manually', and click 'Send'.


5. Click 'OK' to send the settings to the printer.

6. Press the Paper Feed Switch to select the paper source in which you loaded the paper.


7. On the Maintenance tab click the 'Print Head Alignment' icon, then click the 'Print Head Alignment' button.


Important: Do not open the Top Cover while printing.

Note: Clicking 'Check Setting' prints the current settings and finishes the print head alignment.



After the pattern is printed, click 'Yes'.



8. (1) Look at the printout. From the patterns, select the most even, least irregular patterns and enter their numbers.



(2) Click 'OK' . Ensure that paper is loaded in the paper source selected in step 6, and then click 'OK'.

Important: Do not open the Top Cover while printing.

The second pattern prints. In the same way, select the best patterns for each column, enter their numbers, then click 'OK'.

For Columns O and P, the best patterns will be smooth and have no streaks in the border indicated by the arrows.




Note: If it is difficult to pick the best pattern from Column K, pick the setting that produces the least noticeable vertical white stripes.

9. When the confirmation message is displayed, click 'OK'.

Note: When turning off the power to the printer, be sure to press the POWER button on the printer. Otherwise, the settings made here will not be saved
