The filter screws into the front of the lens.
- When using the polarizing filter, use the Canon 77mm Circular Polarizing Filter PL-CII. Autofocus is possible.

A gelatine filter holder is installed on the rear of the EF 17-35. Cut the filter to fit inside the white frame indicated and insert it into the filter holder.
- In certain conditions, the gelatin filter may cause a ghost to appear.
