Launching ScanGear MP from ScanGearStarter

By launching ScanGear MP from ScanGearStarter you can scan documents set on the platen glass, such as photographs and magazines.

  1. On the Windows taskbar, click 'start', point to '(All) Programs', 'Canon', then 'ScanGearStarter'. Then click 'ScanGearStarter'. ScanGearStarter launches ScanGear MP. If multiple scanner drivers are installed, the driver selection dialog box is displayed. Select the scanner driver to use.

  2. Configure the ScanGear MP settings according to preference, then scan in the document.



  3. Specify the file save method.

    • Save as Type
      Select the file format to save scanned images in. Select from BMP, JPEG/EXIF, TIFF, or PDF. Advanced options can be configured for JPEG/EXIF and PDF formats.
    • Save Scanned Image to
      Display the destination folder to save the scanned image. To change the destination, click Browse and specify the destination folder. The My Pictures folder is specified by default.
    • Put Pictures in a Subfolder Using Today' s Date
      Select whether to create a subfolder named with the current date (for example, "2004-10-01") to save the scanned image in.
    • File Name
      Click this to specify the file name of the image to be saved.

Exif tags

You can embed Exif tags in scanned images.

Image file (upper left of the dialog box)
The file name of the image to embed Exif tags into. When the checkboxes of multiple images are selected in the Scanned Image dialog box, you can select an image file here.

Exif tag view (left of the dialog box)
Shows the Exif tags for this image. Basic Information shows the tags generated automatically by the scanner or software. Advanced Information shows the current values of the tags that can be edited on the right.

Extended Exif tag editing area (right of the dialog box)
Edit the Exif tags such as the image title and camera settings. Select an item's checkbox to enable it to be edited or selected. Click 'Apply' to reflect the entered values in Exif tag view.

Apply the Same Setting of Input Items Automatically
Select to display the previously entered settings when embedding tags into an image.
