Procedure for Using Card Mix Elura 40mc

You can produce effects not possible with just a tape using the Card Mix function. Choose one of the sample images provided on the supplied SD Memory Card (such as picture frames, backgrounds and animations) and combine it with the live video recording.

  1. Insert a tape and a memory card.  Be sure that the memory card still has the sample images on it.  If not, copy them from the Digital Video Solution Disk.

  2. Set the camcorder to mode, and set the program selector to .
    -
    You cannot use Card Mix in the Night recording program.




  3. Press the <Menu> button to open the menu, and select [CARD MIX].
    - The card mix menu appears.

  4. Select the image you wish to combine with the video using the CARD +/- button.
    - The image will display on the LCD screen in the background of the menu, and will change when either the <CARD +> or <CARD -> button is pressed.
    - You can also choose or change the image during any step below.
    - Certain images work better for certain mix types.  See the links on Step 6 for recommendations.

  5. Select [MIX TYPE], and press the SET dial.

  6. Select the mix type matching the sample image you have selected. Press the SET dial in when complete.
    - Choose one of the following:
    Card Chroma Key (CARD CHROMA), Card Luminance Key (CARD LUMI.), Camera Chroma Key (CAM. CHROMA), or Card Animation (C. ANIMATION).
    - The screen shows the combined image.
    - When you have selected [C. ANIMATION], select [ANIMAT. TYPE] and select between [CORNER], [STRAIGHT] and [RANDOM].

  7. To adjust the mix level, select [MIX LEVEL], then adjust it with the Selector dial. Press the SET button when complete.
    - Turning the selector dial upwards adjusts to the right and turning downwards adjusts to the left.
    - The Mix Level refers to how the image from the card appears or shows through when combined with the recorded video.
    - Changing the Mix Level will have different effects depending on which Mix Type is selected.

  8. Close the menu by pressing the <MENU> button.
    - "CARD MIX" flashes on the LCD screen or viewfinder.

  9. Press the <CARD MIX> button.
    - "CARD MIX" stops flashing, and the combined video appears on the LCD as it will be recorded.

  10. Press the START/STOP button to start recording the video.

Additional Information



Card Chroma Key (CARD CHROMA)

Combines frames with your recordings. The live video recording will appear in place of the blue area of the card mix image.
Mix level adjustment: blue area of the still image.
Works well with sample image of: butterflies, behind bars, magnifying glass, microphone, animals frame, fig leaves, beach, microphones/flashes, streamers/confetti, egg shell, keyboard/trumpet, gold medal, and the newspaper.

Card Luminance Key (CARD LUMI.)

Combines illustrations or title with your recordings. The live video recording will appear in place of the light area of the card mix image.
Mix level adjustment: light area of the still image.
Works well with sample image of: heart ribbon, candles, brush strokes, tree limb frame, and the travel frame.

Camera Chroma Key (CAM. CHROMA)

Combines backgrounds with your recordings. Record your subject in front of a blue curtain, and the subject not blue will be superimposed on the card mix image.
Mix level adjustment: blue area of the live video recording.
Works well with sample image of: beach, icebergs, ocean wave and clouds.

Card Animation (C. ANIMATION)

Combines animations with your recordings. You can choose from 3 types of card animation effects.

  • Corner: Animation appears on the upper left and the lower right corner of the screen.
  • Straight: Animation appears on the top and bottom of the screen and moves to the right and left.
  • Random: Animation moves randomly in the display.

Mix level adjustment: blue area of the card animation image.
Works well with sample image of: ghosts, question marks, blimps, clown walking on ball, fireworks, daisies, UFOs, helicopters, musical notes, Zzz..., hearts, balloons, wolves, rabbits, snowmen, and butterflies

Adding Sample Images to the Memory Card

You can save sample images for card mix to the memory card of the camcorder and a card reader/writer. CARD CHROMA, CARD ANIMATION, CARD LUMINANCE and CAMERA CHROMA are provided on the DIGITAL VIDEO SOLUTION DISK.

  • The sample images provided on the supplied DIGITAL VIDEO SOLUTION DISK are intended only for personal use with this camcorder. Do not use these sample images for other purposes.
  1. Connect the camcorder to the computer.

  2. Insert the DIGITAL VIDEO SOLUTION DISK to the computer's CD-ROM drive.
    - If the installer panel opens, click [Exit] to close it.

  3. Start ZoomBrowser EX (examples here are for version 5.2)

  4. Click [Acquire & Camera Settings], then [Set to Camera].



  5. The Camera Window should open. Click [Uploads images to the camera].



  6. In [Look in:], select the CD-ROM icon, and double-click [DVC CARD IMAGE].



    - Sample images or folders for CAMERA CHROMA, CARD ANIMATION, CARD CHROMA and CARD LUMINANCE appear.

  7. Select the sample images you wish to save and click [Open].

  8. In the Add image window, click [Add].



    The sample images are saved in the memory card.
