Solution

Locking the Flash Exposure Setting (FE Lock)

You can lock the flash exposure so that the exposure settings are correctly set regardless of the composition of your subject.

This function is only available in the , P, Tv, and Av modes.


  1. Turn on the camera, and set the mode switch to .

  2. Press the <DISPLAY> button to turn the LCD monitor on.

  3. Set the flash to [] (Flash On) by pressing the () button repeatedly, until is displayed on the LCD.

  4. Focus on the part of the subject on which you wish to lock the flash exposure setting.

  5. While pressing the shutter button halfway, press the button.

    The flash will pre-fire and the icon will display.

  6. Re-aim the camera to compose the shot as desired and press the shutter button fully.

To Release the FE Lock

Operate a button other than the or button.

  • The FE lock function cannot be used when the LCD monitor is off.
  • The FE lock function is not available when [Flash Adjust] is set to [Manual].
