Procedure for setting the flash output PowerShot A610, A620 A700, and A710 IS

Solution

Adjusting the Flash Output - A610, A620, A700, and A710 IS

When Shooting mode is set to M or when [Flash Adjust] is set to [Manual] in Tv or Av mode, the flash output can be controlled in three steps, starting from FULL, when shooting. This is NOT the same as flash exposure compensation.

  1. Turn on the camera and (if necessary) press the <DISPLAY> button to turn on the LCD.

  2. Press the <FUNC./SET> button.

  3. Select (Flash Output) using the or button.

  4. Adjust the flash output using the or button.
    - You can shoot the image right after selecting this settings by pressing the shutter button; this screen will appear again, once the image is shot.

  5. Press the <FUNC./SET> button to exit the Function menu.
  • When the flash output is low, less shadow appears in the image. However, when shooting a wide scene or area, the image will likely be darker due to insufficient light. When adjusting the flash output, consider all the shooting conditions, including the distance to the subject.
  • Manual flash does not fire a metering preflash. Since manual flash does not fire a preflash it is not compatible with the HF-DC1 high power flash
