Shooting in Manual Focus Mode - PowerShot A610 & A620 & A700

The focus can be manually set.

  • The manual focus cannot be used in the and modes, and when SCN is set to .
  1. Turn on the camera, and set the mode switch to .

  2. Make sure that the LCD screen is turned on.
    - To turn it on, press the <DISPLAY> button.

  3. Press the <MF> button until appears.
    -
    The indicator is displayed.
    - When the (Record) menu's [MF Point Zoom] is set to [On], the portion of the image in the AF frame will appear magnified*.

    * The image will not appear magnified in mode, when the digital zoom is activated, or when a TV is used as the display.
    * Can also be set so that the image displayed is not magnified.



  4. Depending on the shooting mode, pressing the button will switch between the setting items as follows:

    , , , , P Exposure compensation /
    SCN, SCN or mode / Exposure compensation /
    Tv Shutter speed / Exposure compensation /
    Av Aperture value / Exposure compensation /
    M Shutter speed / Aperture value /

5. Press the or button and adjust the focus.

  • The MF indicator shows approximate figures. Use them as a shooting guideline only.

To Cancel the Manual Focus, press the <MF> button.

  • The lower viewfinder indicator lights yellow when the shutter button is pressed in manual focus mode.
  • You can use manual focus in the macro focal distance (from the front of the lens) 1 cm (0.4 in.) - infinity (Wide) / 25 cm (9.8 in.) - infinity (Tele).
  • You can change the MF indicator displayed distance units in the [Set-up] menu.
