Solution

Fan paper thoroughly

Fan paper prior to inserting it into the Auto Sheet Feeder (ASF) or the cassette.

Auto Sheet Feeder (ASF):

  1. Remove paper from the ASF.

  2. Fan out the sheets of paper so that they do not stick together.

  3. Align the edges of the paper.



  4. Load a few sheets of letter or A4-sized paper (print side facing up) into the ASF (1).



  5. Pinch and adjust the paper guide to the width of the stack (2).

  6. Ensure the paper stack does not exceed the paper limit mark.

  7. Press the Open button and pull out the extension completely.

  8. Ensure the Feed Switch light is set for ASF.



  9. Press <OK> to clear any messages on the display.

  10. If printing from an application, follow the instructions displayed on the computer monitor.

Cassette:

  1. Pull out the cassette from the machine.



  2. Remove the paper from the cassette.

  3. Fan out the sheets of paper so that they do not stick together.

  4. Align the edges of the paper.



  5. Load paper on the upper-right corner of the cassette with the print side facing down.

    Note: Since the Credit Card sized paper, Canon Photo Stickers, and Legal sized paper cannot be fed from the cassette, load them in the Auto Sheet Feeder (ASF).

  6. Pinch and slide the paper guides to the paper's edge.



  7. Close the lid and push the cassette all the way into the printer.

  8. Press the Open button and pull out the extension completely.

  9. Ensure the Feed Switch light is set for cassette.



  10. Press <OK> to clear any messages on the display.

  11. If printing from an application, follow the instructions displayed on the computer monitor.
