Playing Back a Memory Card Optura Xi

You can display images one after another (slide show) or 6 at one time (index screen). With the Card Jump function, you can quickly locate an image without displaying them one by one. With the OPTURA Xi, you need to switch between the playback modes using the <CARD STILL/MOVIE> button to display still images (in still image playback mode) or MPEG-4 movies (in movie playback mode).

Displaying Images/Movies One at a Time

  1. Set the camcorder to CARD PLAY mode.
    -
    Set the POWER switch to PLAY (VCR) and the TAPE/CARD switch to .
    - To playback a movie, press the <CARD STILL/MOVIE> button. The camcorder displays the movie playback mode.
    - The last recorded image appears.

  2. Press the CARD +/- button to move between images.

  3. Press the button to play back a movie.
    - The first scene appears as a still image when playback is complete.
    - Pressing the button during playback pauses the playback. Press the  button again to restart playback.
    - Pressing the button displays the first scene of the movie.
    - During movie playback: Press the CARD +/- button (or the REW / FF button on the wireless controller) for 8x fast forward/fast rewind playback.

Camera controls

  • Images / movies not recorded with this camcorder, uploaded from a computer (except the sample images), edited on a computer and images whose file names have been changed may not be played back correctly.
  • Do not turn off the camcorder, change the position of the TAPE/CARD switch, disconnect the power source, open the memory card cover or remove the memory card while the card access indicator is flashing. Doing so could result in data damage.
  • Movies recorded in Motion JPEG format with another Canon camcorder are displayed in still image playback mode.

Slide Show

For movies, press the <CARD STILL/MOVIE> button.

  1. Press the <SLIDE SHOW> button.
    -
    Images are played back one after another.

  2. Press the <SLIDE SHOW> button to stop the slide show.

Index Screen

For movies, press the <CARD STILL/MOVIE> button.

  1. Move the zoom lever toward W.
    -
    Up to 6 images appear.
    - With movies, the index screen can only be started when the first scene is displayed as a still image.

  2. Press the CARD +/- button to change the image selection.

  3. Move the pointer to the image you wish to view.
    -
    Turn the selector dial up to move to the next image and down to move to the previous image.
    - Turning the selector dial up on the last image displays the next index screen. Turning the selector dial down on the first image displays the previous index screen.

  4. Move the zoom lever toward T.
    - The index screen is cancelled.

Card Jump Function

You can locate images without displaying them one by one. The number in the upper right of the screen indicates the image number of the current image by the total number of images. For movies, press the <CARD STILL/MOVIE> button.

  • Press and hold the CARD + or CARD - button.
    -
    When you release the button, the image of the displayed image number appears.
    - With movies, the card jump function can only be started when the first scene is displayed as a still image.
