Document Guide

The document guide sheet feeds documents from the document feeder out through the top of the document cover. Clean the document guide sheet if sent faxes, copies or scans have black or white veritical lines.

1. Lift the document cover to expose the platen glass.
   
   
2. Wipe the platen glass (A), white areas (B), and document guide (transparent) sheet (C) with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth moistened with water.
   
   
   Remove the document guide for easier access:
   
1. Press the tab to release it from the machine. The tab is located at the top of the platen, close to the left edge, approximately midway of the document guide.
   
   Caution:
   The above illustration shows the transparent sheet separated from the document guide. It is not necessary to remove the sheet at this time.
   
   
2. Lay the document guide (with the transparent sheet attached) on a flat surface.
   
3. Clean transparent sheet (C) with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth moistened with water.
   
   
3. Then wipe with a clean, soft, dry, lint-free cloth making sure there are no residues left, especially on the platen glass. If the document guide was removed in step 2c, please insert it back to the platen.
   
   
4. Close the document cover and make a copy of a text document to confirm the black line has disappeared.
