You can download only JPEG images using the Scanner and Camera wizard, Windows Explorer or the WIA TWAIN driver. To download and process RAW images, use the File Viewer Utility.

Downloading with the Scanner and Camera Wizard

You can quickly and easily download JPEG images to your computer by following the Wizard's on-screen instructions.

1. Connect the camera to your computer.
   
   
   • The EOS Kiss REBEL 300D screen (event screen) appears. Select 'Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard', and then click the 'OK' button. The Scanner and Camera Wizard dialog box appears.
   • If you are using Windows Me, the Scanner and Camera Wizard dialog box appears.
     
     
2. Click the 'Next' button.
   
   
   • The Choose Pictures to Copy window appears in the Scanner and Camera Wizard dialog box.
   • If you are using Windows Me, the Choose Pictures window appears in the Scanner and Camera Wizard dialog box.
     
     
3. Select the image(s) you wish to download and click the 'Next' button.
   
   

   
   

   • To select multiple images, press and hold the <Ctrl> or <Shift> key on the keyboard while clicking on images. To select all the images, click the 'Select All' button.
   • The Picture Name and Destination window appears in the Scanner and Camera Wizard dialog box.
   • If you are using Windows Me, the Save Pictures window appears in the Scanner and Camera Wizard dialog box.
     
     
4. Specify a file name and save location and click the 'Next' button.
   
   
   • The selected images will be downloaded to the specified destination folder and the other option window appears in the Scanner and Camera Wizard dialog box.
   • If you are using Windows Me, when you specify the file name and destination folder and then click the 'Finish' button, the images are downloaded and the Scanner and Camera Wizard dialog box closes.
   • If you do not specify a save location, a new folder is created in the My Picture folder (the My Pictures folder in Windows Me) and the images are saved in the new folder.
     
     
5. Select the 'Nothing. I'm finished working with these pictures' radio button and click the 'Next' button.
   
   

   • The Completing the Scanner and Camera Wizard window appears in the Scanner and Camera Wizard dialog box.
     
     

6. Click the 'Finish' button.
   
   
   • The Scanner and Camera Wizard dialog box closes.

Downloading with Windows Explorer

JPEG images can be downloaded to the computer with Windows Explorer just as you would copy any other file.

1. Connect the camera to your computer.
   
   
   • The EOS Kiss REBEL 300D screen (event screen) and the Scanner and Camera Wizard dialog box appear.
   • Click the 'Cancel' button and close all the open windows.
     
     
2. Start up Windows Explorer and select a folder.

   
   
   

   • You can start Windows Explorer by right-clicking the 'Start' button and selecting 'Explorer' from the menu that appears.
   • Double-click EOS Kiss REBEL 300D in the Explorer view and click the 100CANON folder, or click the '+' on the left and then click the '100CANON' folder.
   • Windows Me users should doubleclick EOS Kiss REBEL 300D in the Explorer view and then doubleclick the 100CANON folder icon that appears.
   • A number between 100 and 999 is displayed in place of the '100' in 100CANON.
   • The camera's images will be displayed as thumbnails in the Explorer window.
     
     
3. Save the images on your computer.
   
   
   • Download by Specifying a Folder: If you right-click a displayed image, select 'Save in My Picture' from the menu that appears and then click the 'OK' button. The image is saved in the My Picture folder (the My Pictures folder in Windows Me).
     
   • Download by Dragging and Dropping: Select an image in the Explorer window, drag it to the target folder and drop it.

Downloading with the WIA TWAIN interface

This section describes how to use the TWAIN Driver-compatible retouching software, select images via the WIA TWAIN driver and import them into your program. The description given here use Photoshop Elements 2.0, as an example.

1. Connect the camera to your computer.
   
   
   • The EOS Kiss REBEL 300D screen (event screen) and the Scanner and Camera Wizard dialog box appear.
   • Click the 'Cancel' button and close all the open windows.
     
     
2. Start Photoshop Elements 2.0.
   
   
   • Click the 'Start' button and select 'All Programs' ('Programs' on Windows Me), 'Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0'.
     
     
3. Select the 'File' menu, 'Import', 'WIA-EOS Kiss REBEL 300D'.
   
   
   • The Get Pictures from dialog box appears.
     
     
4. Double-click the 100CANON folder.
   
   
   • A number between 100 and 999 is displayed in place of the '100' in '100CANON'.
     
     
5. Select the image(s) you wish to download and click the 'Get Pictures' button.
   
   

   
   

   • The selected image(s) will be downloaded to the software.
