BJ (MP) Metafile error.

Problem:
While attempting to print from a PC running Windows 98 or Windows Me, the following error is encountered

(For MultiPASS it will be "MP metafile")

Cause:

It has been determined that the above issue will occur when WebSearch Toolbar is installed. However, it is possible that other similar programs may cause the same symptom.

Solution # 1: Uninstall the WebSearch Toolbar

Note: This is only an option. If you do not wish to uninstall the WebSearch Toolbar, please use solution # 2 .

To verify that WebSearch Toolbar is installed, hold down 'Ctrl+Alt+Delete' . Check the 'Close Program' list for 'Wtoolsa'

To uninstall WebSearch Toolbar *

1. Click 'Start', go to 'Settings', click 'Control Panel'.
2. Double-click 'Add/Remove Programs'.
3. Select 'WebSearch Toolbar'.
4. Click the 'Add/Remove' button, then click 'Yes'.

* Running in 'Selective Startup' will not resolve the issue.

NOTE: As of 12/08/2004, this error should no longer occur if the latest upgrade of WebSearch Toolbar has been installed. According to the WebSearch web site, upgrades will be performed automatically without the need for user intervention.

Solution # 2: Disable background printing***

1. Click 'Start', go to 'Settings', click 'Printers'.
2. Right-click the printer's icon then click 'Properties'.
3. Click the 'Page Setup' tab then click the 'Printer control' button.
4. Uncheck the 'Background Printing' checkbox.
5. Click 'OK' on the Printer control window, then click 'OK' on the Page Setup window.

*** For C555/755 Background printing will be found on the 'Page Layout' tab. For C530/560 background printing will be found on the 'Features' tab.

Note:
Unchecking the Background Printing check box disables the following options**

Main tab: Preview before printing Page
Setup tab: Page Layout Printing, Booklet Printing and Poster Printing in the Printing Type list; Duplex Printing, Copies, Reverse Order, and Collate check boxes
Effects tab: Photo Optimizer PRO, Simulate Illustration, Vivid Photo, Monochrome Effects, Photo Noise Reduction
Stamp/Background tab: all options
Manual Color Adjustment dialog box: Enable ICM

** Not all models will have all the above listed options. Some customers may experience problems printing from Easy Photo with background printing turned off.

Please keep in mind that there may be other software programs, utilities, etc. which may cause the
same issue.
