Below is an explanation how to use ZoomBrowser EX to perform a range of operations including downloading the camera's images, and sending e-mail with downloaded images as file attachments.


Starting ZoomBrowser EX

ZoomBrowser EX can be started from the event screen that appears when you connect the camera to your computer, or by clicking the desktop icon or the 'Start' button.

Starting ZoomBrowser EX from an Event Screen

Start up ZoomBrowser EX from the Camera Model screen (event screen) that appears when you connect the camera to your computer.


  1. Connect the camera to your computer.

    • The Camera Model screen (event screen) appears.
    • In Windows Me, the Scanner and Camera Wizard dialog box appears. Click the 'Cancel' button to exit the Scanner and Camera Wizard dialog box and start ZoomBrowser EX (see "Starting ZoomBrowser EX Using the Icon".)

  2. Select 'Canon ZoomBrowser EX' and click the 'OK' button.
    • ZoomBrowser EX starts up and the Camera window appears.
    • The images saved on the CF card in the camera or card reader are displayed in the Camera window.

If ZoomBrowser EX was not started when you connected the camera to your computer (e.g. if you started File Viewer Utility when you connected the camera to your computer) and you want to download images from a card reader, start ZoomBrowser EX from the desktop icon or by clicking the 'Start' button.


  1. Double-click the ZoomBrowser EX icon on the desktop.

    • You can also start ZoomBrowser EX by clicking the 'Start' button and selecting 'All Programs' ('Programs' in versions of Windows other than Windows XP), 'Canon Utilities', 'ZoomBrowser EX', 'ZoomBrowser EX'.
    • ZoomBrowser EX starts up and the ZoomBrowser EX main window appears.

  1. Click the 'Camera & Memory Card' button and select 'Browse/ Download images' from the menu that appears.

    • The ZoomBrowser EX main window closes and the Camera window opens.
    • The images saved on the CF card in the camera or card reader are displayed in the Camera window.

Downloading and Saving Images

The procedure below describes how to download the images saved on a CF card in the camera or card reader and save those images on your computer.


  1. Select the images to be downloaded from the Camera window and click the 'Download image' button.

    • Click the displayed images to select them. You can also select multiple images by clicking images successively.
    • Click a selected image again to deselect the image.
    • The Download Settings dialog box appears.

  1. Specify the desired settings and click the 'OK' button.

    • The images are saved on your computer, the Camera window closes and the ZoomBrowser EX main window opens.
    • The downloaded images are displayed in the ZoomBrowser EX main window.
