Instructions for printing the Nozzle Check Pattern

Solution

Printing a nozzle test will help determine if the ink tanks are not seated properly. Follow this procedure to print the nozzle check pattern from the machine:

  1. Load letter-size plain paper in the multi-purpose tray.

  2. Press the <Menu> button (is also the '+' (plus symbol)) on the operation panel repeatedly until [PRINTER SETTINGS] appears on the LCD.

  3. Press the <Set> button twice. [NOZZLE CHECK] now displays in the LCD.

  4. Press the <Set> button.

  5. After the Nozzle Check Pattern is printed, examine the linear pattern (top) and the alignment pattern (bottom).

  6. Check the linear pattern at the top to see if any lines are missing. If any lines or colors are missing, perform Print Head Refreshing.

  7. The rectangular patterns (below the linear pattern) indicate the print head alignment settings that were set the last time the print head was aligned. Perform Print Head Alignment if there is significant vertical striping in any of the rectangular patterns, or if the numbers associated with each pattern vary greatly.

Print Head Refreshing -

If the printed Nozzle Check Pattern is broken, missing, or a specific color is not printed, clean the print head.

  1. Press the <Menu> button (is also the '+' (plus symbol)) on the operation panel repeatedly until [PRINTER SETTINGS] appears on the LCD.

  2. Press the <Set> button twice. The second line on the LCD will display [NOZZLE CHECK].

  3. Press the <Menu> button (is also the '+' (plus symbol)) repeatedly until [HEAD REFRESHING] appears, and then press the <Set> button.

Note: [HEAD REFRESHING] uses more ink than [HEAD CLEANING], so perform [HEAD REFRESHING] only when necessary.

  4. Print a Nozzle Check Pattern and perform at least two Head Refreshing if the pattern is not correct.
