Solution

Use Photo Noise Reduction Function (Windows)

The Photo Noise Reduction function reduces noise from blue portions such as the sky and dark portions of the images captured with your digital camera.

Note:

  • In Windows Me or Windows 98, the Photo Noise Reduction function will not be available if Background Printing has been disabled.
  • It is easy to confirm whether background printing is in progress. Open the printer driver's Preferences / Properties dialog box, select Page Setup and click 'Printer Control'.
  • The Photo Noise Reduction function may not be as effective for some image resolutions and when used with certain software applications.
  • Using this function with photographs other than those taken with a digital camera may cause images to be disturbed.
  1. Access the printing preferences by opening the printer properties:

    For Windows Vista
    • Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, 'Control Panel', 'Hardware and Sound', and then click on 'Printers'. Note: If you are in 'Classic' view, Click 'Printers' directly from the 'Control Panel'.
    • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Preferences' from the menu that appears.

    For Windows XP Home Edition

    • Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, 'Control Panel,' 'Printers and Other Hardware,' and 'Printers and Faxes.'
    • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Preferences' from the menu that appears.

    For Windows XP Professional Edition

    • Click 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, and 'Printers and Faxes.'
    • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Preferences' from the menu that appears.

    For Windows 2000/Me/98

    • Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, and 'Settings,' then 'Printers.'
    • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Properties' from the menu that appears.

    Click the Effects tab.

  2. Select the Photo Noise Reduction check box.

    (1) Select this check box.

    (2) Select Normal or Strong as the strength of the noise reduction effect. Normal is recommended. If the effect is not noticeable, select Strong.

  3. Click 'OK'.

  4. Click 'Print' in the Print dialog box. Printing will now begin.
