Set Prevent paper abrasion (Mac OS X)

Solution

Set Prevent paper abrasion (Mac OS X)

By using the 'Prevent paper abrasion' function, the space between the print head and paper is increased, preventing print head contact with the paper.

Note: If Prevent paper abrasion is selected, the smudges may disappear, but the print quality may deteriorate. In such a case, perform printing after selecting High in the Print Quality section in the printer driver.

After confirming that the printer is connected to the printer and that the printer is powered on, perform the following:

  1. In the Apple menu select System Preferences

Note: In versions of Mac OS X older than 10.4, open the IJ / BJ Printer Utility from the Library>Printers>Canon>BJPrinter>Utilities folder.

  2. Open Print & Fax.

  3. Make sure the correct printer is selected and, depending on OS version, click 'Open Print Queue...' or 'Print Queue...'.

  4. Click the Utility / Printer Setup icon.

Note: In Mac OS X 10.6, select 'Utility' at the top of the screen, and then click the 'Open Printer Utility' button.

  5. Select the printer, then click 'Maintenance'.

  6. The BJ / IJ Printer Utility is launched.

  7. From the pop-up menu, select 'Custom Settings'.

  8. Check 'Prevent paper abrasion', and click 'Send'.

    * Display may vary depending on the printer.

  9. Click 'OK'.

  10. The settings will be sent to the printer.

  11. Click 'Quit'.

  12. Procedure for setting Prevent paper abrasion is completed.
