Set the Quiet Mode (Mac OS X)

The sound level when printing can be turned down by using Quiet Mode.

After confirming that the cable is connected and the printer is powered on, perform the following.

  1. In the Apple menu select System Preferences

    Note: In versions of Mac OS X older than 10.4, open the IJ / BJ Printer Utility from the Library>Printers>Canon>BJPrinter>Utilities folder.

  2. Open Print & Fax.

  3. Make sure the correct printer is selected and, depending on OS version, click 'Open Print Queue...' or 'Print Queue...'.

  4. Click the Utility / Printer Setup icon.

    Note: In Mac OS X 10.6, select 'Utility' at the top of the screen, and then click the 'Open Printer Utility' button.

  5. Select the printer, then click 'Maintenance'.

  6. The BJ / IJ Printer Utility is launched.




  7. From the drop-down menu, select 'Quiet Mode.'




    Display may vary depending on the printer.

  8. Select the desired radio button.




  9. Click 'Send.' The settings are sent to the printer and the settings are enabled.
