Change The Print Quality Settings (Mac OS 9.x)

The Quality settting controls how finely ink droplets are placed on the printed page. Depending on the type of paper being used a higher Print Quality setting does not always insure a better print. Print speed will decrease as the Print Quality setting is increased. Follow the instructions below to change the print quality settings in the Canon printer driver for the Mac OS 9.x operating system through a printing application.

How to set print quality when selecting default print quality settings:

  1. From the File menu, select 'Print' or 'Print Desktop'. 



  2. From the 'Print Mode' pop-up menu, select the mode most resembling the data to be printed.  Click here for more information on print modes.



    Note: Under versions prior to v4.0, the following icons may be displayed in the 'Print Mode' dialog.



How to set print quality when selecting 'Manual':

  1. Select 'Manual', and click 'Details'. 



  2. When the Detailed Setting dialog box is displayed, perform settings in the 'Print Quality' and 'Halftoning' section. 



  3. Drag the slide bar from 'Fast' to 'Fine' to adjust the 'Print Quality' setting.  For more information about 'Print Quality' click here.  For more information about 'Halftone' click here.

  4. Click 'OK' to complete the Detailed Setting and to return to the Print dialog box.


Changing the print quality settings is completed.

Print Modes:

  • Text: Suitable for text-based documents. 
  • Graphic: Suitable for documents combining text and graphics. 
  • Photo: Suitable for photos. 

Print Quality

  • Select 'Fast' for faster print speeds
  • Select 'Fine' to prioritize quality. 

Halftoning

  • Dither: Select this to add the dithering effect to the image to be printed.
  • Diffusion: Select this to add the diffusion effect to the image to be printed.
