Bluetooth Setup (Mac OS X)

To print via Bluetooth communication using Macintosh, the following conditions are required:

  • Apple Macintosh computer containing Bluetooth modules, or Macintosh with D-LINK DBT-120 USB Bluetooth rev.B installed
  • Mac OS X 10.3.3 Operating System or later
  • BJ Printer Driver v.3.4.0 for Mac OS X installed

In order to connect the Bluetooth unit and print via Bluetooth communication, the following steps are required.

STEP 1

Check that the Bluetooth unit is properly attached to the printer.

STEP 2

Install the printer driver.

STEP 3

Check the device name using the Setup Utility.

1. Check that the printer is connected with the computer with a USB cable, and that the printer is on.

2. Double-click the 'Applications' folder in the hard disk where the printer driver is installed, then 'Canon xxxx Setup Utility' folder, and then the 'Canon xxxx Setup Utility' icon. The Canon xxxx Setup Utility will start.

3. Select the 'Bluetooth Settings' tab, and then click 'Change' in Bluetooth Settings page.

Note: If the Bluetooth Settings feature does not appear on the Canon xxxx Setup Utility screen, the Bluetooth unit may not be installed correctly.

4. Enter a passkey. The passkey is an identification number to be determined by the user. It is used to prevent interference from other Bluetooth devices.

Enter the initial value, 0000, and click 'OK'.

5. Check the Model. The Model is necessary to register the printer as a Bluetooth device using the Bluetooth Setup Assistant. Be sure to note the Model.

Note: To register and use multiple units, changing the model name is recommended for easy identification of the printer you will use. Model names can be changed using a maximum of 24 characters. After changing the model name, click 'Send'.

After checking the model name, click 'Cancel', and 'Close' on the Canon xxxx Setup Utility.

STEP 4

Register the printer as a Bluetooth device using the Bluetooth Setup Assistant.

1. Click the Bluetooth icon on the menu bar, and then select 'Set up Bluetooth Device'. The Bluetooth Setup Assistant starts.

Note for OS 10.4.x and 10.5.x users: If the Bluetooth icon does not exist on the menu bar, select 'System Preferences' from the Apple menu, and then double-click the 'Bluetooth icon'.

2. Click 'Continue'.

3. Select 'Printer', then click 'Continue'.

4. Select the same device name (Model) as that you checked on the Canon iP90 Setup Utility, then click 'Continue'.

5. Click 'Continue'.

6. Click 'Quit'.

7. Select 'System Preferences' from the Apple menu, and then double-click the 'Printers & Faxes' icon to check whether the printer name selected in Step 4 is registered in the Printer List.

Note: If two or more printers are registered with the same name (Canon iP90 (xx:xx:xx)), leave one printer and delete all the rest.
