Perform Print Head Alignment (Mac OS X)

  1. In the Apple menu select System Preferences

    Note: In versions of Mac OS X older than 10.4, open the IJ / BJ Printer Utility from the Library>Printers>Canon>BJPrinter>Utilities folder.

  2. Open Print & Fax.

  3. Make sure the correct printer is selected and, depending on OS version, click 'Open Print Queue...' or 'Print Queue...'.

  4. Click the Utility icon.

  5. Select the printer, then click 'Maintenance'.

  6. The BJ Printer Utility is launched.



  7. Select 'Test Print' from the drop-down menu.

  8. Select 'Print Head Alignment'.

  9. Click 'Print Head Alignment' (3).



    Note: Click 'Check Setting' to print the current setting and finish the operation.

  10. Look at the print out. From the patterns, select the most even, least irregular patterns and enter the number that corresponds (1).

  11. Click Send (2).



    Note: If it is difficult to pick up the best pattern on Column H, pick the setting that produces the least noticeable vertical white stripes.
