Perform Descreen
Printed photographs and pictures are displayed as a collection of fine dots. Moire is a phenomenon where dots may interfere with each other and cause uneven gradation and a striped pattern in the image. [Descreen] is the function for reducing this moire effect. It is set to [OFF] by default.
- In the Applications folder on the hard disk that you have installed the printer driver on, open the ScanGear Starter 1.0E folder, then double-click the 'ScanGear Starter 1.0E' icon.
- Click the 'Advanced Mode' tab on the upper right to switch.

- Set 'Descreen' to 'ON'.
IMPORTANT:
a. You can select this setting when 'Color Mode' is 'Color' or 'Grayscale'.
b. Even if 'Descreen' is set to 'ON', some moire effect may remain if 'Unsharp Mask' is set to 'ON'. In this case, set 'Unsharp Mask' to 'OFF'.
c. 'Descreen' cannot be set when scanning from an application that will not display the ScanGear MP screen.
d. If you are scanning from the MP Navigator without using ScanGear MP, check 'Reduce moire' in the 'Scan Settings' dialog box for the descreen effect.
e. Scanning takes longer than usual.
NOTE:
Selecting 'Magazine (Color)' in 'Select Image Source' in Simple Mode has the same effect as selecting 'Descreen' in Advanced Mode.
