Verify the remote fax machine is set to answer automatically

Contact the party to receive the fax and verify it is set to answer automatically and is connected.


[BUSY/NO SIGNAL] (#018) will appear if the remote fax does not answer automatically.

[BUSY/NO SIGNAL] will appear on the display (or #018 will appear on an Activity Report) for several reasons:

  • The remote fax is not answering (disconnected, set to not answer automatically, memory is full, etc.).
  • The fax number being dialed is incorrect.
  • The fax number being dialed is busy.
  • The TEL LINE TYPE (dialing mode) is not set correctly.

To verify the fax can send, please try the following.

  1. Try sending a fax to another location.

  2. If the transmission was successful, please contact the remote party and verify their fax machine is powered on, connected to a phone line and is set to answer automaticaly.
