How to Send Images by E-mail with ZoomBrowser EX 4.xx

Solution

Important

Your e-mail program must be set up as a MAPI client in order for you to be able to send an image as an attachment to an e-mail using ZoomBrowser EX. "MAPI" is the standard which enables access to e-mail functions from non e-mail programs. All "MAPI" compliant e-mail programs allow you to send e-mail directly from the menus of other application programs. Major mail applications that support "MAPI" are MS Outlook, Outlook Express and NetScape Communicator, etc.

For setup instructions, please refer to the instruction manual provided with the software.

Follow the procedure below to send an image by e-mail:

  1. In the main window of ZoomBrowser EX 4.xx, click 'Internet'.

  2. Select 'Email Images' from the menu displayed.

  3. In the ZoomBrowser EX Browser Display Area, select the images you want to send and click 'Next'.

    • You can select multiple images or a folder and have all the images in the folder included in the e-mail attachment.
    • The image size and image quality settings window is displayed.

  4. Specify the image size and image quality settings.

    • First, select either 'Send images unchanged' or 'Resize and compress images into JPEG format'.
    • If you selected 'Resize and compress images into JPEG format', specify the reduction ratio relative to the original size of the image.
      • Select 'Large (original size)', 'Medium (60% of original)' or 'Small (30% of original)'.
    • Next, specify the image quality. (The lower the quality, the rougher the image becomes, but the size of the file also becomes smaller.)
      • Select 'High quality', 'Medium quality' or 'Low quality'.

Note: Normally, we recommend that the size of the image file being sent as an attachment to an e-mail be under 300KB. If the image file is exceptionally large, difficulties may be experienced when uploading and downloading the file.

'Apply' button: Use it to check the file size when you actually compress the image.

'View Images' button: Use it to check the image quality of the compressed file. (A preview image is displayed.)

  5. Click 'Next'.

    • Select whether to create an e-mail message or save the images, and then proceed to the next step.
      1. 'Create a new email': Start the e-mail program and send the e-mail immediately.
      2. 'Save the images in a folder to send through an email program': Save the image on the disk. (Select this option if you are sending the images using a non MAPI compliant e-mail program.)

If you selected 'Save the images in a folder to send through an email program', click 'Browse' to specify a destination.

  6. Click 'Finish'. If you selected 'Create a new email', your e-mail program will start and the selected images will appear as an attachment in the message window. Enter the address of the recipient, subject and your message, and then send the e-mail.

Note: Some e-mail programs may not be able to start automatically (those without MAPI support).  In this case, save the image to the disk, start the e-mail program and attach the image to an e-mail message.

If you selected 'Save the images in a folder to send through an email program', the images will be saved to the specified destination. To send the images by e-mail, start your e-mail program and attach the saved image files to a message.
