The fax machine will receive faxes automatically in FaxTel Mode and will ring to alert you of an incoming phone call. While the fax is alerting you of the incoming phone call, answer the call on an extension telephone connected to the fax. The instructions below illustrate how the devices should be connected.

1. Connect a line cord from the telephone wall jack to the [L] jack on the device.  The [L] jack is located closest to the right side of the machine when looking at it from the rear of the machine.
   
   
2. Connect a line cord from the extension telephone port (1) on the device to an external telephone (or answering machine).
   
   

Note:
You cannot use the extension phone while the fax is in use.
