Verify the fax number to send to is correct

Contact the party to receive the fax and verify the fax number.


[BUSY/NO SIGNAL] (#018) will appear if the fax number dialed is incorrect.

BUSY/NO SIGNAL will appear on the display (or #018 will appear on an Activity Report) for several reasons:

  • The fax number being dialed is incorrect.
  • The fax number being dialed is busy.
  • The remote fax is not answering (disconnected, set to not answer automatically, memory is full, etc.).
  • The TEL LINE TYPE (dialing mode) is not set correctly.

To verify the fax can send, please try the following.

  1. Try sending a fax to another location (if possible, send to a local fax number).

  2. If the local transmission was successful, please contact the remote party and verify their fax number is correct.

  3. If the fax number is correct and the transmission is not successful, try sending to a third fax number.

  4. If transmission is successful to the third fax number, please ask the remote party to check their fax machine and verify their fax number.
