Solution

Remove foreign object from paper feed path

If error message

  • [CLEAR PAPER JAM] or

  • [CHECK PRINTER]

is displayed, follow this procedure to remove paper or obstructions from the machine.

  1. Remove any remaing paper from the ASF.



  2. If paper is jammed in the multi-purpose tray, gently pull the paper out (in either direction) of the fax.



  3. After paper is removed from the ASF, open the document tray.



  4. Gently pull the document guides to remove the gray cover under the document tray.



  5. Look in the ASF area for an obstruction (such as a paper clip, staple, tape, etc.) and then remove it..

  6. Reattach the gray cover to the fax.
    Insert the lower tabs (1), then the upper tabs (2) into the corresponding slots.



  7. If paper is not visible in the ASF, open the printer cover and remove it from there.

  8. After paper is removed, close the printer cover.

  9. Press <Stop> to clear any messages on the display

  10. Insert the stack face up into the multi-purpose tray [1], and align the right edge of the stack with the right side of the multi-purpose tray.

  11. Slide the paper guide [2] snugly against the left edge of the stack.
