Uninstall / Reinstall Scanner Drivers (3000ex, 3000F, 4200F, D1250U2, D1250U2F)

Solution

Deleting the Scanner Driver and/or Software (3000ex, 3000F, 4200F, D1250U2, D1250U2F)

Note: When uninstalling the scanner driver, be sure to first disconnect the scanner from the computer.

Only

  1. Place the CanoScan Setup CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
  1. When the CanoScan Setup Utility menu appears, click the option to 'Uninstall the Software' and then follow the prompts.

For instructions on reinstalling the driver, click the appropriate scanner model below.

Installing the Software - CanoScan 3000ex, 3000F

Compatible with Windows Only

*If you are running Windows XP or Windows 2000 Professional with multiple user accounts, you should log on with an administrator user name when installing or uninstalling software programs.

  1. Turn the computer on. If the Found New Hardware Wizard or Add New Hardware Wizard appears, click 'Cancel'.
  2. Place the CanoScan Setup Utility CD-ROM in the drive. After you select your language, the CanoScan Setup Utility main menu will display.
  3. Click 'Install the Software'. Read the Software User License Agreement. Click 'Yes' to accept the terms. The Install window will display.
  4. Click 'Start Installation'. You will install six software programs and the Scanning Guide (HTML format manual).
  5. The installation procedure will start. Follow the on-screen message prompts and click 'Next' or 'Yes' to continue the installation. In few cases, your operating system may require you to restart the computer. Follow the on-screen message to restart and resume installation.
  6. When the installation is complete, click 'Yes'. The computer will restart.
  7. After Windows restarts, remove the CD-ROM from the drive and store it in a safe place.

Compatible with Windows Only

Windows XP

  1. Start with the computer off. Connect the scanner to the computer.
  2. Turn the computer on.
  3. "Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard" will appear. Confirm that Install the software automatically (Recommended) is selected.
  4. Place the CanoScan Setup Utility CD-ROM in the drive. The driver will begin to install.
  5. When Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard appears, click "Finish".

Back

Windows Me

  1. Start with the computer off. Connect the scanner to the computer.
  2. Turn the computer on.
  3. The Add New Hardware Wizard dialog box will appear. Confirm that Automatically search for a better driver (Recommended) is selected.
  4. Place the CanoScan Setup Utility CD-ROM in the drive.
  5. Wait approximately 10 seconds and then click "Next". The driver will begin to install.
  6. When "Windows has finished installing the new hardware device" appears, click "Finish".

Windows 98 / Windows 2000

  1. Start with the computer off. Connect the scanner to the computer.
  2. Turn the computer on.
  3. When the Add New Hardware Wizard dialog box appears, click "Next".
  4. Confirm that Search for the best driver for your device. (Recommended) is selected and click "Next".
  5. Place the CanoScan Setup Utility CD-ROM in the drive.
  6. Confirm that CE-ROM drive is selected, wait approximately 10 seconds and then click "Next". If Driver Not Found appears, click "Back" and repeat this step.
  7. When CanoScan D1250U2/D1250U2F appears, click "Next". The driver will begin to install.
    Windows 98 Users
    If prompted to insert the Windows 98 CD-ROM, follow the instructions below.
    1. Click "OK" to the dialog message.
    2. Click "Browse".
    3. Select the CD-ROM drive and click "OK".
    4. Click "OK".
  8. Click "Finish".
