Solution

Ink Should Only be Replaced After the Printer Status Monitor Shows Ink Low or Empty

If ink is replaced before the Printer Status Monitor displays low or empty, the status will not change to full but will remain half full. This does NOT indicate that there is anything wrong with the ink nor does it indicate that the printer needs to be repaired. The status will display full only when the ink is changed at the low or empty point.

This is due to the fact that the printer has two methods of determining the ink level, through the dot count and the optical sensor. The printer determines when the ink is half full through the dot count. The printer determines when the ink is low through the optical sensor.
