Solution

Removing Obstructions or Jammed Paper

If [CLEAR PAPER JAM] and [PRESS OK]or other "Jammed" messages are displayed on the LCD, follow this procedure to clear the paper jam.

Removing A Document Jammed In The ADF

If a paper jam occurs when receiving a fax, that fax will be stored in memory and printed automatically when you clear the jam and press <OK>.

Clearing Jams In The Paper Output Tray
Follow this procedure:

  1. Gently pull any jammed paper out of the Paper Output Tray. If you cannot see any jammed paper in the Paper Output Tray, remove it from the machine's interior.



  2. Press <OK>. If you are printing from an application software, follow the instructions displayed on your computer.

Clearing Jams Inside Machine
Follow this procedure:

  1. Raise the Scanning Unit until it stops. Pull and hold the Scanning Unit Lever towards you, then raise the Scanning Unit.



  2. Open the Inner Cover 1.



  3. Open the Inner Cover 2.



  4. If there is jammed paper visible, gently pull out the jammed paper from center of the paper exit.



  5. If no jammed paper is visible, check the interior for obstructions such as paper clips, crumpled/torn pieces of paper, etc and remove, being careful not to touch interior parts of the machine.

  6. Close the Inner Cover 2.

  7. Close the Inner Cover 1.

  8. Close the Scanning Unit.

  9. Press <OK>. If you are printing from an application software, follow the instructions displayed on your computer.

Clearing Jams From The Auto Sheet Feeder
Follow this procedure:

  1. Gently pull out any jammed paper or remove obstruction(s) from the Auto Sheet Feeder.

  2. Press <OK>. If you are printing from an application software, follow the instructions displayed on your computer

Clearing Jams In The Transport Unit
Follow this procedure:

  1. Open the Rear Cover.



  2. Gently pull out the jammed paper. If you cannot see the paper, pull out and remove the Cassette.



  3. Close the Rear Cover.

  4. Press <OK>.

Clearing Jams In The Duplexing Transport Unit
Follow this procedure:

  1. Turn OFF the power then disconnect the power cord.

  2. Remove the Cassette. If paper is loaded in the Auto Sheet Feeder, remove the paper and close the Paper Support.


    • If you can see the paper:

      1. Gently pull out the jammed paper.



      2. Go to step 3.

    • If you cannot see the paper:

      1. Stand the machine on its LEFT side.

        CAUTION: Do not stand the machine on its right side.



      2. Pull and hold the green lever towards you (1), then gently pull out the paper from the Duplexing Transport Unit (2).



      3. Go to step 3.

  3. If paper is sticking out of the Cassette, load it back in.

  4. Replace the Cassette back into the machine.

  5. Press <OK>.

Removing A Document Jammed In The ADF

If a document jams in the ADF or a document longer than 3 3/8 ft. (1m) cannot be fed properly, [CLEAR PAPER JAM] is displayed on the LCD. Press [OK]. There is no need to turn off the power before removing the jammed document from the ADF.

Follow this procedure:

  1. Press <Stop/Reset>.

  2. If a multi-page document is loaded, remove any pages other than the jammed page from the ADF.



  3. Open the Feeder Cover.



  4. Raise the paper release lever (A) then remove the jammed page from under the roller to the Feeder Cover side.



  5. Pull out the jammed document from the ADF.



  6. Lower the paper release lever (A) then close the Feeder Cover. If documents remain in the ADF after pressing <Stop/Reset> during scanning, confirm the machine is in the standby mode and press <OK>. The remaining document is automatically fed out.
