Solution

If a print job fails, or tasks in the queue don't print, you will need to clear the print queue.

Delete the print queue in Windows XP / Windows 2000

Here's how to clear the print queue:

  1. From the Windows taskbar, double-click on the printer icon.

Windows taskbar: Printer shown to the left of the time stamp.

  2. From the Printer window, in the Document Name column select the print job to highlight it.

  3. From the Document menu, select Cancel.

  4. Repeat steps 2-3 if you need to cancel another print job.

If you don't see the Printer icon in your Windows taskbar, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Printers folder.

  2. Double-click on the printer icon to open the print queue window

  3. Select Printer.

  4. Select Cancel All Documents.

Cancel All Documents selected from Printer menu.

If the document still displays, wait a few minutes. If the document still displays after two minutes, follow these steps:

  1. Turn the printer OFF.

  2. When the printer operations stop, try to select Cancel All Documents.

If the print job can't be canceled or doesn't stop printing, follow these steps:

  1. Close the Printer window.

  2. Shut down the computer.

  3. Disconnect the printer cable (USB or parallel cable).

  4. Restart the computer.

  5. If a message window appears asking if you want to cancel printing, select Yes

  6. After you cancel all jobs, reconnect the cable to the printer and try to print again.

Note If the print job doesn't complete, you may need to disconnect the printer cable, turn the printer OFF then ON, and reconnect the printer cable.
