Description

This article provides information on some things to check if your PIXMA MG3620 is not detected on a wireless network.

Solution

  • Check 1: Make sure that the machine is turned on.

  • Check 2: Make sure that the Wi-Fi lamp is lit on the machine.

If the Wi-Fi lamp is off, the wireless LAN is disabled. Follow the procedure below to enable the wireless LAN.

    1. Press and hold the Wi-Fi button, then release the button when the POWER lamp flashes.

    2. Press the Color button, Black button, then Wi-Fi button in this order.

When the ON lamp changed from flashing to lit and the Wi-Fi lamp lights up, then the wireless LAN is enabled.

  • Check 3: When the machine is connected to the computer temporarily using a USB cable, make sure that the USB cable is connected properly.

When you set up the wireless LAN connection or change the wireless LAN settings using IJ Network Tool through USB connection, connect the machine and the computer using a USB cable as the illustration below. The USB port is located on the rear of the machine.

  • Check 4: Make sure that the machine setup is completed.

If not, perform setup with the Setup CD-ROM or the Full Driver & Software package for Windows or macOS.  You can also use an iOS or Android device to set up the printer on your wireless network with the Canon PRINT Inkjet / SELPHY app.

  • Check 5: When using IJ Network Tool, search for the machine again.

For details, refer to the Online Manual.

  • Check 6: When searching for a machine over a network, make sure that the machine is associated with the port.

When No Driver is displayed under Name in IJ Network Tool, there is no association. Select Associate Port on the Settings menu, then associate the port with the machine.

For details, refer to the Online Manual.

  • Check 7: Make sure that the network settings in the machine are identical with those of the wireless router.

  • Refer to the instruction manual provided with the wireless router or contact its manufacturer to check the wireless router settings, and then modify the machine settings.

For details, refer to the Online Manual.

     Home

  • Check 8: Make sure that there is no obstruction.

Wireless communication between different rooms or floors is generally poor. Adjust the location of the devices.

  • Check 9: Make sure that the machine is not placed far away from the wireless router.

The wireless router is located indoors within the effective range for wireless communication. Locate the machine within 164 ft. / 50 m from the wireless router.

  • Check 10: Make sure that there is no source of radio wave interference in your vicinity.

If a device (e.g. microwave oven) using the same frequency bandwidth as the wireless station is placed nearby, the device may cause interference. Place the wireless station as far away from the interference source as possible.

  • Check 11: Make sure that the network settings of the computer are correct.

Make sure that the computer can communicate with the wireless router over the wireless LAN.

  • Check 12: Make sure that Enable bidirectional support is selected in the Ports sheet of the properties dialog box of the printer driver.

  • Check 13: Make sure that the firewall of the security software is disabled.

If the firewall function of your security software is turned on, a message may appear warning that Canon software is attempting to access the network. If the warning message appears, set the security software to always allow access.

If using any programs that switch the network environment, check their settings. Some programs will enable a firewall by default.

  • Check 14: When using a router, connect the machine and computer to the LAN side (same network segment).

  • Check 15: Confirm the TCP/IP setting of the machine and disable IPv6.

To check the current TCP/IP setting, print out the network setting information using the operation panel of the machine.

When "TCP/IPv6" is set to "Enable", IPv4 and IPv6 are enabled.

Press and hold the Stop button, then release the button when the Alarm lamp flashes 23 times.

IPv6 is disabled and only IPv4 is enabled.

If the problem is not resolved, perform setup again with the Setup CD-ROM or the Full Driver & Software package for Windows or macOS.  You can also use an iOS or Android device to set up the printer on your wireless network with the Canon PRINT Inkjet / SELPHY app.
