Solution

Support code appears on the LCD and your computer screen when errors occur.

A "support code" is an error number, and appears along with an error message.

When an error occurs, check the support code displayed on the LCD and computer screen and take the appropriate action in response.

Open the tank cover, remove the ink tank, and then reinstall it.

If the error is not resolved, replace the ink tank.

Open the tank cover, and then replace the ink tank. Printing will restart from the next page.

Open the tank cover, and then replace the ink tank. When the ink tank is replaced, printing restart, or cleaning or other operation resumes.

The remaining level of the ink cannot be correctly detected.

Open the tank cover, and then replace the ink tank. Printing will restart.

An ink tank that was once empty is installed. Printing under the current condition will disable the system cleaning required to maintain both printer and print quality.

If you want to continue printing, you need to disable the system cleaning function. To disable this function, press and hold the printer's Stop button for at least 5 seconds, and then release it.*

* With this operation, disabling the system cleaning function is memorized.

If you disable the system cleaning function, printing trouble such as unwanted lines or the complete stopping of ink ejection may occur.

Also, printing under the current condition may cause a malfunction or trouble because the print head will be damaged.

Please be advised that Canon shall not be liable for any malfunction or trouble caused by disabling the system cleaning function or by using refilled ink tanks.

Cause of following may have occurred failure of automatic print head alignment.

  • Print head nozzles are clogged.

  • Size of paper loaded is incorrect.

  • Paper output slot is exposed to strong light.

Press the printer's OK button and take the corresponding actions below.

If there are missing lines or horizontal white streaks in the pattern, the print head nozzles are clogged. Clean the print head.

  • Check the print head condition by printing the nozzle check pattern.

  • Load the correct size paper and perform automatic print head alignment again.

  • Adjust your operating environment and/or the position of the printer so that the paper output slot is not exposed directly to strong light.

 Important

The highly permeable paper such as a backlight film or the plain paper are not available for automatic print head alignment.

Use the lower permeable paper or the frequently used paper.

After carrying out the above measures, if the problem continues after aligning the print head again, press the printer's OK button, and then perform manual print head alignment.

Calibration has failed.

Press the printer's OK button, and then perform the calibration again.

Printer error has occurred.

Cancel printing, and turn off the printer. Then clear the jammed paper or protective material that is preventing the print head holder from moving, and turn on the printer again.

 Important

 When clearing an impediment to print head holder motion, be careful not to touch clear film or white belt.

If you soil or scratch these parts by touching them with paper or your hand, it could damage the printer.
