Description

Learn how to print wirelessly from an Android device to a SELPHY CP1200 printer.

Solution

Even when you don't have access to a router, you can wirelessly print images from a Wi-Fi supported smartphone, tablet, camera, or computer.

This article describes how to wirelessly print images saved to a Wi-Fi® compatible Android™ device.

Before you begin

  • To print from your Android device, you need to download the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app from the Google Play Store™.

  • Some features aren't available when printing via Wi-Fi.

  • You can check your Android OS version by accessing About device in the Settings menu.

  • We recommend turning OFF sleep mode on your Android smartphone first.

  • Names of settings and operation methods differ depending on your Android device and OS version.

Connect your Android device

Android OS 4.4 is used in the following examples.

On your mobile device

  1. Tap the Play Store icon.

  2.  Tap the search icon. Search for and download the free Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app. You need a Google account to download the app.

  3. Turn on your Android device and make sure it's not in Airplane mode.

  4. Tap Settings and turn on (enable) Wi-Fi.

On your printer

  1. Remove any inserted memory cards or USB flash drives from your printer.

  2. Insert a loaded paper cassette and ink in the printer.

  3. Tap Settings, then tap the menu  icon.

  4. Tap the up or down arrow   to select Wi-Fi Settings, then tap OK.

  5. Tap the up or down arrow   to select Connection Settings, then tap OK.

  6. Check the printer name. If Canon SELPHY displays, tap OK. If it doesn't display, tap EDIT to change the printer name.

  7. Tap the up or down arrow   to select Direct Connection, then tap OK.

  8. The following screen displays. Tap the EDIT button if you want to change the password.

Back to your mobile device

  1. Use your mobile device to join the network that displays on the printer screen.

  2. In your device's Wi-Fi settings, select the SSID (network name) that displays on the printer.

Back to your printer

  1. Enter the password you see on your device into the password field on the printer.
Be careful not to confuse numbers and letters (for example 1 and I or 0 and o).

  2. Make sure your mobile device and the printer are connected, then tap the Home button on the printer to return to the start screen.

  3. Follow the steps / screenshots in the next section if you need to register your printer for the first time.

Register your printer

  1. Tap the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY    icon on your device to open the app and follow the instructions on your screen.

Print from your Android

  3. The Busy screen displays. Don't disconnect your device or close the app while this screen appears.

You can't cancel printing that's in progress from SELPHY using the BACK <> button. Instead, tap Cancel on your device to stop printing.

  4. When the print task finishes, the standby screen displays. To print another image, start again from Step 1.

Good to know
