Getting Started You can download the software from the Canon website and install it.
IMPORTANT
- Using the software, you can update to the latest version, and download new functions via the Internet (some software excluded). Be sure to install the software on a computer with an Internet connection so you can use this function.
- Internet access is required to use this function, and any ISP account charges and access fees must be paid separately.
- In this section, Windows 7 is used as an example. The on-screen displays and operations may differ depending on the operating system.
- An account with Administrator privileges is required for installing and uninstalling software.
- Installation may not be possible when security software is running.
Software Overview
- After downloading the software from the Canon website and installing it, you can do the following things on your computer.

| CameraWindow | Import images to your computer. |
| Image Transfer Utility | Set up Image Sync and receive images. |
| Map Utility | Use a map to view GPS information that has been added to images. |
IMPORTANT
- To view or edit movies on your computer, use software that supports the movies shot with your camera (i.e. software installed as standard on your computer or software that is generally available).
Installing the Software 1. With a computer connected to the Internet, access the Canon website and download the software.

2. Double-click the downloaded file to open it.
3. The file will be extracted. Double-click the folder to open it.
4. Double-click [ CanonDCS7.1 W.exe ].
5. The following screen will appear. Click [Run].
6. Select the area in which you live.
7. Select the country where you live, and then click [Next].
8. Select your language.
9. The screen below appears.
Click  [Easy Installation] to automatically install all the software applications.
NOTE
Click  [Custom Installation] to select the software applications that you want to install.
10. The following screen will appear. Click [OK].
REFERENCE
If you selected [Custom Installation] in Step 9, the following screen will appear after Step 10.
(The software displayed may differ depending on the camera you use.)
The selected (  ) software applications will be installed. (Deselect the checkbox ( ) of the software applications that you do not wish to install.)
After confirming that you have selected all the software applications for installation, click [Next] and then proceed with the installation.
11. The following screen will appear. Click [Install].
12. Read the license agreement and if you agree to the terms, click [Yes] to begin the installation.
13. The following screen will appear. Click [Yes] after reading the content carefully.
14.ãClick [Yes] if the following screen appears.
15. Installation begins and the below screen is displayed.
16. After installation has finished, click [Next].
17. The following screen appears. In this example,  [No, I will register later.] has been selected, and  [Next] has been clicked.
18. The following screen will appear. Click [OK].
19. The following screen will appear. Click [Finish].
NOTE
If a restart message is displayed, click [Restart] to restart the computer.
This completes method for installing the software.
