Solution

NOTE
  • In the following explanation, smartphone setting procedures are indicated by the icon, and camera setting procedures are indicated by the icon.
  • For convenience, smartphones, tablets, and other compatible devices are collectively referred to as "smartphones".
  • Keep your fingers or other objects off the Wi-Fi antenna area. Covering this may decrease the speed of your image transfers.
  • Depending on the condition of the network you are using, it may take a long time to send movies. Be sure to keep an eye on the camera battery level.
  • Up to 500 images (still images and movies) can be sent together at one time.
  • When sending movies to smartphones, note that the supported image quality varies depending on the smartphone. For details, refer to the smartphone user manual.
  • On the screen, wireless signal strength is indicated by the following icons.
-[ ] high, [ ] medium, [ ] low, [ ] weak
REFERENCE
Connections require that a memory card be in the camera.

Getting Started

To communicate with a smartphone, the camera needs to be connected to the smartphone using the dedicated application Camera Connect.
There are three methods for connecting and saving image from the camera to a smartphone. Please select the option below which corresponds to the specifications of your device:

Step 1-A: Using the NFC function to make connections

  • For an NFC-compatible Android smartphone (OS version 4.0 or later), connections can be made by activating NFC and touching the smartphone against the camera.

Step 1-B: Pressing the [Mobile Device Connection] button to connect with the smartphone.

  • Press the < > button to connect the devices. This simplifies sending images to a smartphone.
  • Please refer to the related information for details on the smartphones which can be connected with a camera wirelessly.

Step 1-C: Making connections using the Wi-Fi menu

  • Please refer to the related information for details on the smartphones which can be connected with a camera wirelessly.

IMPORTANT
  • The setting procedures and items may differ depending on the smartphone model you use and its OS. For more information, refer to your smartphone's instruction manual.
  • Interface or functions of Camera Connect are subject to change, for application improvement or update. In such a case, features of Camera Connect may differ from sample screens or operation instructions in this explanation.
NOTE
  • To check the iOS version information, touch [Settings] [General] [About].
  • To confirm the Android™ OS version information, check the [Settings] menu ( ) [About device] [Android version].

Step 1-A: Using the NFC function to make connections

Use an Android™ (OS version 4.0 or later) smartphone’s NFC to simplify the process of installing Camera Connect and connecting to the camera.

  • If the camera is off or in Shooting mode when the devices are touched together, you can choose and transfer images from the camera to the smartphone. Once the devices are connected, you can also shoot remotely.
It’s easy to reconnect to recent devices, which are listed in the Wi-Fi menu.

  • If the camera is in Playback mode when the devices are touched together, images appear in index display. You can choose and send images on the image selection screen.

The procedures for making connections when the camera’s power is set to [Off] are explained in the following sections.
For more information about making connections when the camera is set to Playback mode, please refer to the camera’s instruction manual.
IMPORTANT
When using NFC, keep the following points in mind.
  • If your Camera Connect version is 2.7.10 or later, check the Android OS version of your smartphone. If the version is 10.0 or later, you cannnot connect to the camera using NFC functionality.
  • Avoid strong impact between the camera and smartphone. This may damage the devices.
  • Depending on the smartphone, the devices may not recognize each other immediately. In this case, try holding the devices together in slightly different positions. If connection fails, keep the devices together until the camera screen is updated.
  • Do not place other objects between the camera and smartphone. Also, note that camera or smartphone covers or similar accessories may block communication.

1-A-1. Install Camera Connect.
Activate NFC on the smartphone and touch the device against the camera’s N-Mark () to start Google Play ™ on the smartphone automatically. Once the Camera Connect download page is displayed, download and install the app.

1-A-2. Establish the connection.
Touch the N-Mark () on the smartphone with Camera Connect installed against the camera’s N-Mark.
  • The camera starts up automatically.

NOTE
When making Wi-Fi settings for the first time, a screen will appear for you to register a nickname for the camera.
This nickname will be displayed on the screen of target devices when connecting to other devices via Wi-Fi.
Press the [ ], [ ] buttons to choose the [Nickname] filed, and then press the <> button.
Enter the nickname on the keyboard displayed. After you have finished entering it, press the <MENU> button to return to the registration screen, and then touch <OK>.
* For more information on using the keyboard, please refer to Using the on-screen keyboard.

Camera Connect starts up on the smartphone and automatically connects to the camera.

1-A-3. When the screen shown in the image below is displayed, press the [ ], [ ] buttons to choose [All images], and then press the <> button.

After a connection is established with the smartphone, this screen will close in about one minute.

NOTE
All images in the camera can be viewed from the connected smartphone when you choose [All images] in step 3. Select another option in step 3 to place restrictions on camera images viewable from the smartphone. Once you have registered a smartphone, you can change privacy settings for it on the camera.

Proceed to Step 2: Sending images to the smartphone

Step 1-B: Pressing the Mobile Device Connect button to connect with the smartphone

  • Registering a device to the < > button and connecting.
NOTE
Simply press the [ ] button to connect the devices. This simplifies sending images to a smartphone .

  • Before connecting to the camera, you must install the free dedicated 'Camera Connect' app on the smartphone.
IMPORTANT
  • For Android™ smartphones, find EOS Remote in Google Play™ and download and install the app.
  • For an iPhone or iPad, find EOS Remote in the App Store and download and install the app.

1-B-1. Press the camera’s [ Mobile device connect ] ( ) button.
(Hereafter referred to as the < > button.)

NOTE

1-B-2. Touch [ ] when the screen below is displayed.

1-B-3. The camera’s SSID is displayed on the screen.

REFERENCE
  • When you are in the vicinity of an access point that you have previously connected to, the camera will automatically connect to it.
  • To change access points, select [Switch Network] from the screen that will be displayed when the connection is being established.

1-B-4. Choose the SSID (network name) displayed on the camera’s screen from the list of access points displayed on the smartphone.

NOTE
For better security, you can display a password on the screen by accessing MENU and choosing [ - 4 ] tab > [Wi-Fi Settings] > [Password] > [On]. In this case, enter the password displayed on the camera in the password field on the smartphone when it is displayed.

  • After confirming that the smartphone and the camera are connected, touch the [Home Button] to return to the [Home Screen].

1-B-5. Tap the [Canon Connect] () application icon on the smartphone to start [Camera Connect].

1-B-6. A screen appears on the smartphone that lets you select which camera to connect to. Select the camera to begin pairing.

1-B-7. After a connection is established with the smartphone, the smartphone’s name is displayed on the camera. (This screen will close in about one minute.)

REFERENCE
  • Once you have connected to a smartphone initially via Wi-Fi by pressing the < > (Mobile device connection) button, you can simply press the < > (Mobile device connection) button after that to connect again for viewing and saving camera images on connected devices.
  • One smartphone can be registered to the < > (Mobile device connection) button.
  • Once a connection has been established with a smartphone, you can automatically reconnect to the registered device by simply pressing the <> button, even if the camera has been turned off.
NOTE
  • To clear smartphones registered to the camera, display the menu screen, choose [Mobile Device Connect Button] on the [ - 4 ] tab, and then touch [OK] on the confirmation screen to complete the process.
If you wish to register a different smartphone to the <> button, clear the one currently registered first.
Proceed to Step 2: Sending images to the smartphone

Step 1-C: Making connections using the Wi-Fi menu

Before connecting to the camera, you must install the free dedicated 'Camera Connect' app on the smartphone.

1-C-1. Install Camera Connect.
  • For Android™ smartphones, find EOS Remote in Google Play™ and download and install the app.
  • For an iPhone or iPad, find EOS Remote in the App Store and download and install the app.

1-C-2. Press the <> button to turn the camera on.

1-C-3. Press the <> button to display the menu screen, press the [ ], [ ] buttons to choose [ Wi-Fi], and then press the <> button.


NOTE

1-C-4. Press the [ ], [ ] buttons to choose [ ], and then press the <> button.

NOTE
  • If you have previously connected to devices, recent destinations will be listed first when you access the Wi-Fi menu. You can easily connect again by pressing the [ ], [ ] buttons to choose the device, then pressing the <> button. To add a new device, display the device selection screen by touching [ ], [ ], and then configure the setting.
  • If you prefer not to display recent target devices, go to the menu, choose the [ - 4] tab, and set [Target History] to [Off] in [Wi-Fi Settings].

1-C-5. Press the [ ], [ ] buttons to choose [Add a Device], and then press the <> button.

The camera’s SSID is displayed on the screen.

NOTE
To connect without entering a password in step 5, go to the menu, choose the [ - 4] tab, and set [Password] to [Off] in [Wi- Fi Settings]. [Password] is no longer displayed in the SSID display screen (step 4).

1-C-6. Choose the SSID (network name) displayed on the camera’s screen from the list of access points displayed on the smartphone.
  • Enter the password displayed on the camera in the password field.

1-C-7. Tap the [Canon CC] () icon to start the [Camera Connect] app.

1-C-8. A screen appears on the smartphone that lets you select which camera to connect to. Select the camera to begin pairing.

1-C-9. When this screen is displayed, press the [ ], [ ] buttons to choose [All images], and then press the <> button.

After a connection is established with the smartphone, this screen will close in about one minute.

Proceed to Step 2: Sending images to the smartphone.

IMPORTANT
All images in the camera can be viewed from the connected smartphone when you choose [All images] in step 9. Select another option in step 9 to place restrictions on camera images viewable from the smartphone . Once you have registered a smartphone, you can change privacy settings for it on the camera

Step 2: Sending images to the smartphone

1. Touch [Images on camera ] in Camera Connect.

2. Use the smartphone to import images from the camera to the smartphone.
  • When the camera is connected to the smartphone, a list of the images on the camera will appear in [Camera Connect].

3. After the screen refreshes, choose the desired images, and then touch [Save] on the bottom right of the screen. The selected images will be saved to the smartphone.

4. After the images have been saved, touch the [Home] button to return to the menu screen.

5. To end the connection, touch the [ ] icon displayed in the upper right of the screen, and then touch [Yes].


Using the On-Screen Keyboard

  • Use the on-screen keyboard to enter wireless settings and other information. Note that the length and type of information you can enter varies depending on the function you are using.

Entering CharactersTouch the characters to enter them.
Moving the CursorTouch .
Entering Line Breaks*Touch .
Switching Input ModesTo switch to numbers or symbols, touch .
Touch
to enter capital letters.
● Available input modes vary depending on the function you are using.
Deleting CharactersTouch to delete the previous character.
Confirming Input and Returning to the Previous ScreenPress the button.
*For some functions, is not displayed and cannot be used.
