Check the [Mirror lockup] settings.

When using the viewfinder, if you cannot shoot by pressing the shutter button fully one time, check the [Mirror lockup] settings on the [ ] tab in the menu displayed on the LCD monitor. If it is set to [Enable], change the setting to [Disable] to cancel the mirror lockup setting.

NOTE

When mirror lockup is set, the mirror will swing up with the first complete press of the shutter button and the viewfinder will go dark. With the second complete press of the shutter button, the mirror goes back down and the picture is taken.

This setting is useful for preventing camera vibrations caused by the camera's reflex action (mirror shock) when using a super telephoto lens or shooting close-ups (macro photography).

Canceling [Mirror lockup]

3. Under the [ ] tab, select [Mirror lockup], then press <>.

4. If [ ] (Enable) is set, select [OFF] (Disable) and then press <>.
