Use the PRINT App for iOS to Connect Directly to the Printer

Solution

Canon PRINT is a free app that lets users of iPhone®, and other iOS devices enjoy a variety of PIXMA, MAXIFY and SELPHY printing capabilities.

From the app, you can also set up your printer to communicate directly with your iOS device. To do this, follow the instructions below.


Use the app to set up your printer for direct wireless connection with your iOS device

  1. Download the Canon PRINT app from the App Store.

  2. Follow this link to start wireless setup on your specific printer model.

  3. After you start wireless setup from the printer, go to device settings on your iOS device, and select Wi-Fi®.

  4. Select name of the wireless network your printer is broadcasting. (Depending on the model, it may be Canon_ij_Setup or a name with the printer included, such as Canon_ij_053xx_GX7000series). Enter the password if prompted. Check here if you don't know the password.

  5. For using services related to Canon product message will appear. Read the information and tap Agree or Do not agree. You can continue no matter which one you choose.

  6. Your device will begin searching for printers. When the following message appears, tap Allow.

  7. Tap Search.

  8. When the following message appears, tap OK.

    Your device will continue searching for printers.

  9. When the following message appears, tap No, or wait a few moments.

  10. Since your device is directly connected to the printer, you'll be asked to join the printer's Wi-Fi connection. When prompted, tap Join.

  11. A list of networks appears. Tap Direct Connection.

     If you have used this app before, you may see a prompt indicating that your network information is saved before the list of nearby wireless networks appears. If you see this prompt, tap No to proceed.

  12. The printer will indicate that it's saving information. Wait for the process to finish.

  13. After a few minutes, you will be prompted to join the printer's network. Tap Join. The app will process.

  14. Tap Close.

     If this is your first time using the app, you will be asked to allow PRINT to use your location. Tap Allow While Using App.

The printer is now ready for use with the Canon PRINT app.

If you want to print an image, tap Select images and follow the on-screen instructions. Tap Cancel if you don't want to print.
