This article explains how to work with the PIXMA MG6620 via NFC on an Android device.

Solution

Your PIXMA MG6620 can work with Android devices via NFC.  You can either add the printer to the Canon PRINT Inkjet / SELPHY printer list, or you can execute a print via NFC.

Follow the steps below to add the printer to your printer list in Canon PRINT Inkjet / SELPHY.
  1. Connect the MG6620 to your wireless network.  Click here for instructions on connecting the printer to the wireless network via the Standard Setup method, or here for instructions on using Canon PRINT Inkjet / SELPHY for a cableless setup.  After your printer is connected to the wireless network, click here for instructions on printing the network information to confirm that you are on the wireless network.

  2. Confirm that your Android device is connected to the same wireless network that your MG6620 is connected to.  Refer to the manual for your Android device for more information.

  3. If you have not already downloaded Canon PRINT Inkjet / SELPHY, download it from Google Play.  Click here for a link to the entry for this app on the Google Play store.

  4. After Canon PRINT Inkjet / SELPHY has been installed, open it.  Tap the icon at the upper left.

  5. Place your Android device on the NFC symbol on the printer.  The device will then communicate with the printer.

  6. You will be asked to register the printer with this app.  Tap Yes.

  7. You will be at the Registered Printers list.  Your PIXMA MG6620 will appear.  Tap it to go back to the main menu.

  8. You can choose whether you want to print a photo or document or if you want to scan something.  In this example a photo will be printed.  Tap Photo Print.

  9. After selecting your photo, tap Change settings so you can specify your paper size and type.

Make any changes as needed, then tap the Back button on your Android device.

  10. Tap Print to start printing.  You can place your Android device on the NFC symbol to begin the print.  After the print has finished, tap OK.
