Before Starting
The steps in this article apply to the MAXIFY iB4120, MAXIFY MB2120, MAXIFY MB2720, MAXIFY MB5120, and MAXIFY MB5420.
Steps to Install
To install the software for a USB connection for your MAXIFY printer using the Setup CD, follow the steps below.
If your PC does not have a CD or DVD drive, or if you have lost the Setup CD, you can download a driver package from our website (iB4120 / MB2120 / MB2720 / MB5120 / MB5420). Open the file when it has finished downloading and proceed from step 2.

Insert the Setup CD into your computer. If a window appears asking you what you want to do with the CD after it has been inserted, select the option to run MSETUP4.EXE.
If no window appears:
Windows Vista / 7: Click Start --> Computer and double click on the listing for your CD or DVD drive (it should say CANON_IJ when the disc is inserted). If you are not prompted to begin the installer when you double click on the icon for your CD or DVD drive, double click on MSETUP4.EXE to begin the installation.
Windows 8 / 8.1: Click on the File Explorer icon 
in the taskbar when you are on the Desktop. If you do not have this icon, press Windows Key + X on your keyboard and select File Explorer. Double click on the listing for your CD or DVD drive (it should say CANON_IJ when the disc is inserted). If you are not prompted to begin the installer when you double click on the icon for your CD or DVD drive, double click on MSETUP4.EXE to begin the installation.
Windows 10 / 11: Click on the File Explorer icon in the taskbar when you are on the Desktop. If you do not have this icon, click Start --> File Explorer. Select This PC on the left side of the window and then double click on the listing for your CD or DVD drive (it should say CANON_IJ when the disc is inserted). If you are not prompted to begin the installer when you double click on the icon for your CD or DVD drive, double click on MSETUP4.EXE to begin the installation.
If your computer asks for permission to continue with the installation, click Yes or Continue.

When the installer begins, you will see a check in the box for Use the updated software found on internet. If this box checked, the installer will check for updated versions of the drivers and software and download them to your PC instead of using the drivers and software on the CD. If you want to do this, keep this box checked. If you want to use the software contained on the CD, remove the check from the box. Click Start Setup.
If you are using the driver package from our website, Use the updated software found on internet will not appear on this screen.

The installer will process for a few moments.

Select your country and click Next.

Read the terms of the License Agreement. Click Yes to proceed.

For the Extended Survey Program, read the information about what information will be sent to Canon if you choose to participate in this program. If you wish to participate, click Agree. Click Do not agree if you do not want to participate in this program. Please note that participation in this program is optional. Declining to participate will not affect your ability to use the printer.

The box for Deactivate the block will be checked. Click Next.

On the Select Connection Method screen, select USB Connection and click Next.

The drivers for your printer will install.

The Printer Connection screen will appear after the drivers have been installed.
Connect the printer to your PC with a USB cable. The printer will be detected and the installation will proceed.

After the printer has been detected, a Test Print prompt will appear. Clicking Execute will print a test page from your printer. To continue with the installer, click Next.

The Setup Complete screen will appear. If you have other printers installed on your PC but you want the MAXIFY printer to be the default printer, place a check in the box for Set as default printer. Click Next to proceed.

The Software Installation List will appear. Place a check in the boxes for each component from the CD that you want to install (User's Manual, My Printer, etc.). Then, click Next to proceed. If you do not want to install any additional software, click Clear All. To install the default selection of software in the list, click Defaults.

The components you have selected in step 13 (if any) will install. Depending on what has been selected, this may take several minutes.

The User Registration screen will appear. Clicking Next will take you online so you can register your MAXIFY printer. Clicking Skip will proceed to the next step.

The installation will be completed. Click Exit to close the installer. If the CD does not automatically eject, you may eject it when the installation has finished.
