This article explains how to connect your printer to a wireless LAN using the Standard Setup method.

Solution

Your printer can be connected to a wireless network using the operation panel to directly enter in the network information.  This setup method is known as Standard Setup.  To connect the printer to your network using this method, follow the steps below.
  1. From the HOME screen, press the  buttons until WLAN appears on the screen.  Press the function button underneath WLAN.

  2. Wireless LAN setup will be highlighted.  Press OK.

  3. The printer will search for access points (networks) that it can connect to.  You will then be at the Wireless LAN setup menu.  Standard setup will be highlighted.  Press OK.

  4. The printer will search for access points (networks) again.  Select your network from the list using the  buttons and press OK.  If your network does not appear in the list, press the Function button under Search again.

  5. The Enter passphrase screen will appear.  Press OK.

  6. You will then come to the passphrase entry screen.  Use the  buttons to highlight the character you want to enter.  Then, press OK to enter in that character.  To toggle between lowercase letters, uppercase letters and numbers / symbols, press the Function button under Aa1.  Press the Function button under Done when you have finished entering in your passphrase.  To delete a character, press the Function button under Del. character.

  7. After you have pressed the Function button under Done, you will return to the Enter passphrase screen.  You will see the passphrase you entered into the printer.  To connect to the printer, press the Function button under End setup.  If you need to change the passphrase you entered in, press OK to go back to the passphrase entry screen and make any changes needed.

  8. When you have pressed the Function button under End setup, the printer will attempt to connect to your wireless network.

If the printer connects to the network, you will see a confirmation message.

    Press OK.

If the printer fails to connect to the wireless network, you will receive an error message stating that the printer failed to connect to the access point.  If you see this error, press OK and verify that your passphrase is correct.  Then, attempt to connect again.
After the printer has been connected to the wireless network, you can install the software on your Windows PC or your Mac.

You can also download Canon PRINT Inkjet / SELPHY for iOS or Android to make use of your printer.
