Description

In order to utilize the Scan to Printer function of the ScanFront 400, you must have a networked printer that has the capability of FTP print function. Most Canon printers have this function disabled by default. It is necessary to enable it and restart the printer. Once restarted, the ScanFront 400 should be able to communicate with the printer and successfully send a document to be printed.

Solution

To enable the FTP print function in most Canon printers, you must access the Network Settings as an administrator. Within the Network Settings, you should be able to locate the FTP print settings.

Click on the "edit" button, and select the checkbox for "Use FTP Print".

The next step is to set the User Name and password. By default, for Canon printers, the FTP Print User Name should be "guest". Then, enter a password for logging into the FTP server (up to 24 alphanumeric characters).

Click on "Confirm" to confirm the password and re-enter it.

If you select the checkbox next to "FTP Settings", you will be allowing that these settings can be changed from the FTP client.

Once completed, click "OK" and restart the printer.

On the ScanFront, select the "Printer" button, enter the IP address of the printer as well as the username and password you selected above. You can also put a check in the box "Remember the password" if you don't want to have to re-enter it every time you select the printer button. Follow the steps on the screen to complete your scan.

You know you are successful when the ScanFront returns to the home screen (without errors) and the document is then printed at the printer you selected.
