Load paper
Follow these steps to load paper.
Refer to this article if you want to
learn how to load envelopes.
-
Align the edges of the paper to avoid paper jams.
-
If the paper is curled, gently bend it in the opposite direction of the curve to flatten it.
- Open the rear tray cover (A) and pull up the paper support (B).
- Open the feed slot cover (C).
-
Slide the paper guides (D) to open them, and load the paper in the center of the rear tray with the print side facing up.
-
Slide the paper guides (D) against both sides of the paper stack.
The paper may not feed properly if you push the paper guides too hard against the paper stack.
To prevent paper jams, always load paper in the portrait orientation (E), not landscape orientation (F).
Don't load the stack of paper higher than the load limit mark (G).
-
Gently close the feed slot cover (H).
If the feed slot cover is open, the paper won't feed.
-
The paper information screen displays on the printer panel. Select the Page size and Type of the loaded paper then select Register.
-
Open the operation panel (I), pull out the paper output tray (J) and paper output support (K), and open the output tray extension (L).
If the operation panel is closed, the printer won't start the print task.
About paper
-
We recommend Canon genuine photo paper for photos.
-
You can use general copy paper or Canon Red Label Superior WOP111/Canon Océ Office Colour Paper SAT213.
-
For paper sizes and weights that work with this printer, see supported media types.
-
If you cut plain paper into small size such as 4" x 6" (10 x 15 cm) or 5" x 7" (13 x 18 cm) to perform trial print, it can cause paper jams.
