Your MAXIFY printer has an administrator password that can prevent unauthorized users from making changes to various settings. By default, this password will either be "canon" (without the quotation marks) or the serial number, depending on the model of MAXIFY printer that you have.
The models that have "canon" as the default administrator password are:
MB2020, MB2320, MB5020, MB5320
The models thave have the serial number as the default administrator password are:
MB2120, MB2720, MB5120, MB5420
If the password for your MAXIFY printer has been changed but then forgotten, you can reset all of the printer's settings, which will then reset the administrator password back to the default. To reset the settings of the printer, follow the steps below.

If you reset all of the settings on your MAXIFY printer, you will need to perform setup again as necessary (such as wireless LAN setup, fax setup, etc.).
- From the HOME screen, swipe over to Setup and tap it. Or, use the arrow buttons to highlight Setup and press OK.
- Swipe over to Device settings and tap it. Or, use the arrow buttons to highlight Device settings and press OK.
- Swipe down to Reset setting and tap it. Or, use the arrow buttons to highlight Reset setting and press OK.
- Swipe down to Reset all and tap it. Or, use the arrow buttons to highlight Reset all and press OK.
- You will receive a message stating that all fax documents held in the printer's memory will be deleted. Tap OK on the screen or press OK.
When you are asked if you want to reset all settings, tap Yes or highlight Yes and press OK.
- After a few moments, the settings will be reset. Press or tap OK.
You will see a message stating that the fax settings have been reset. Press or tap OK.
