This article explains how you can perform a system cleaning on your PIXMA G4200.  Please note that this process uses an enormous amount of ink.  It should not be executed unless it is absolutely necessary.

Solution

If you are experiencing print quality issues, and a couple of print head cleanings and a deep cleaning have not resolved the problem, a system cleaning may help resolve your print quality issue.  Please note that this process uses an enormous amount of ink.  It should not be executed unless it is absolutely necessary.

Before executing the system cleaning, be sure that the ink tanks are full.  If they are not full, you may experience an error.

Follow the steps below to execute the system cleaning.

  1. Turn on the printer.

  2. Press the Setup button.

  3. Press the right arrow button  until Maintenance appears.  Press OK.

  4. Press the right arrow button  until System cleaning appears.  Press OK.

  5. The message For correct operation of the function, refill all ink tanks to the position of the single dot will scroll across the LCD.  Press OK.

  6. The message Are all the ink tanks refilled to the position of the single dot? will scroll across the LCD.  Make sure that the ink tanks are full, then press the left arrow button  to select Yes.  Press OK.

  7. The message System cleaning requires a lot of ink; continue? will scroll across the LCD.  Press the left arrow button  to select Yes.  Press OK.

  8. The system cleaning process will begin.  This may take several minutes to complete.

  9. After the cleaning has finished, print a nozzle check pattern to confirm that the colors are correct.

If the nozzle check pattern is not correct, your printer may require servicing.
