Solution

 

You can blur the background of a photo using Creative Assist mode, Portrait mode, or Av mode.
The procedures for using Creative Assist mode and Portrait mode to capture images with blurred backgrounds are explained in the following sections.
NOTE
Images with blurred backgrounds can also be captured using the methods below:
1.The further the distance between the subject and background, the better.
The further the distance between the subject and background, theãmore blurred the background will look. The subject will also standãout better against an uncluttered dark background.
 
2.Use a telephoto lens.
When using a zoom lens, set the lens on the telephoto side and get close to the subject.
 
3.When shooting a person, focus on their face.
Check that the AF point covering the face turns green.

 

Using Creative Assist Mode

In [ ] mode, setting [Background]() lets you define how much to blur the background. The higher the value is, the more blurred the background gets. The lower the value, the sharper the background.

 

 

1. Set the cameraâs power switch to [ON].

 

 

2. Set the mode dial to [ ].

 

 

3. Press the [ ] button.

 

 

4. Press the [ ], [ ] buttons to choose [Background] ().

 

 

5. Press the [ ], [ ] buttons or turn the [ ] dial or [ ] dial to change the settings.

 

 

6. Press the [ ] button to return to the shooting screen.

 

 

7. Press the shutter button all the way down to shoot.

IMPORTANT
When shooting with flash, [Background] cannot be set.
NOTE
  • Setting options labeled with [ ] on the shooting screen can be adjusted by turning the [ ] dial. By pressing the [ ], [ ] buttons, you can also move [ ] switch to another option for adjustment.
  • To prevent your settings from being reset when the camera is turned off, set [ Keep setting] on the [ - 6] tab to [Enable].

 

 

Using Portrait Mode

The [ ] (Portrait) mode blurs the background to make the human subject stand out. It also makes skin tones and hair look softer.

 

 

1. Set the cameraâs power switch to [ON].

 

 

2. Set the mode dial to [SCN].

 

 

3. Press the [ ] button.

 

 

4. Press the [ ], [ ] buttons to choose a shooting mode. ([ ] is displayed as the default mode after purchase.)

 

 

5. Press the [ ], [ ] buttons or turn the [ ] dial or [ ] dial to choose [Portrait] ().

 

 

6. Press the [ ] button to return to the shooting screen. The [ ] icon will be displayed.

 

 

7. Press the shutter button all the way down to shoot.
